Always Omega! I have two, a mk 2 speedmaster that looks like Dr Evils secret volcano hideout and my daily use dynamic, which I love the retro styling. If you are the right place, right time on fleabay, you can get them for a song. I work in a less posh part of South wales now and the mk 2 gets the wrong kind of attention, as it is the deepest watch I have seen ever and quite conspicuous. It is so deep and heavy I often knock the kids round the back of the head when I walk past by accident and make them cry.... I worry it will end up in cash converters after a brick to my head!!

I am after a cheap watch, £40 or less. Needs to be a rubber strap, waterproof and can take some knocks. Will wear it as an everyday watch, at work, mountain biking and working on cars. Still want it to look good.

Was thinking of some basic Casio. Any other ideas?

Gshock is the only choice you'd be hard pushed to beat this for value for money and sheer toughness lovely watch and very comfortable to wear well worth the extra £10 on your budget.

I got a Gulfman recently from Amazon for £38 which is a complete bargain (RRP is about £80), it's gone up now unfortunately. It has a 7 year battery unlike most of the G-Shocks. The tide things it a bit tricky to set but it's just a gimmick really.

One thing to bear in mind is that it is a very thick watch and can be tricky to fit under a shirt.

I like the look of this one:

Strap looks thinner which might offset the watch face size.

Also I like this:

My last everyday watch was a very similar model (temp readout is useless as you always get your body head). I do like the look of it and was impressed with my last one.

That's amazing! Never seen an Omega like that before :)

Which model is the first Omega photo you posted? Might be on the lookout for an historic model, to go alongside my modern Speedmaster.

It's a Dynamic. Comes with a tool to unscrew the back and it pops off the strap. There is a leather strap for it to screw into, but I do not have that

Eek; just bought a Seiko Orange Monster from a memeber of the Christopher Ward Forum, as I wanted to find out what all the fuss is about for this watch and I've had quite a number of Seikos over the years.

Here's a pic from the sales listing;-

I feel I may have cost the forum a lot of money and should be getting a commission from Seiko.

That Omega is massive. No need for new year resolutions just put that on everyday for a month. Never seen anything like that before.

Ordered this last night after the price dropped a few quid. Perfect for an everyday watch.

I'm still loving my OM.

You get the tool for doing the strap for about £3 on Ebay btw

Spring bar tool is handy too.

If you do it yourself do it over a bowl. The pins have a tiny little collar to lock them in which are easy to lose.

Don't know what a jeweller would charge but it wasn't hard.

Thanks for the links. They've helped me to order the kit I need to resize the braclelet on my newly aquired 'Monster'.

I got my Monster yesterday and really like it. Its not quite as monstrous as I had imagined but then most of my other watches, including a newly aquired, in their New Year sale, Christopher Ward C8 Mk II Aviator (44mm case) and pretty big anyway.

Did you know that watches that are imported pay an import tax in Euros even though we do not use the Euro?

4.50 % MIN 0.30 EUR / Number of items - MAX 0.80 EUR / Number of items
