Move&Fun or PID

Featured Replies

Thanks for putting up the manual pdf, tda2806.

If you look at the manual for the VW Maps + More, which I was directed to from the VW up! Owners Club Forums:

http://www.navigon.com/portal/common/Download/Manual/PNA/MapsMore/maps_x_more_UK.pdf

it is virtually identical (by which I mean literally, word for word) to the Move & Fun manual, except that there is an extra section 11.6, on pages 99-104, about the "Think Blue. Trainer". This is a series of screens that give you various targets for gear changing, accelerating, braking etc to teach you to drive for economy.

This is accessed from the Car Info screen, and I was wondering - is it just not there on the Move & Fun, or is it there and not mentioned in the manual? If it's not there, I wonder what the possibility would be of activating the functionality?

Can anybody who's already got one comment at all? (My Citigo comes on 1st Sep.)

Off topic you pick your car up 1 st Sep (same as me) what spec is yours, is your name on the registar, with the PID that's a good point, I believe you can download apps, so maybe there is an app?

I thought I'd be able to tell you by now, but, the dealer forgot to order the PID for delivery with the car, might have it by the weekend.

I am going for a 5 door Elegance, but the 59 ps engine. The main reason for this is that it's Group 1 insurance and I am planning to pass it on to my son when he turns 17. I know that the 75 ps is only Group 2, but for a 17 year old that's quite a jump in price, and also with the lower power engine he will be less likely to try to race it, I hope.

I'm not on the register - don't really know what that is - will have a look.

Best of luck with that - what a let down. After reading about your experience, I am more worried about 1st Sep than I have been up to now. Car's been on order since 16th April (1st Sep was my choice), so the dealer has had plenty of chance to sort it out. We shall see.....

In clearing all our data from the unit in preparation for its replacement later today, I did notice that you should be able to change the Skoda splash screen to anything you like.

Should be on the top of the forum :)

 3 days on and PID is installed

Sorry to say the extra facilities that are on the VW version aren't on the SKODA one.

I have an Elegance 60 PS, it's actually pretty quick, and cruises very nicely.

Glad you got your PID.

With regard to the VW extras - thanks for checking and I guess no surprises there: they are the guvnors in this relationship, so they are bound to keep a few bits for themselves (it's the same with the variable load floor). The "Think Blue. Training" has got to be in there somewhere, though, I would have thought, unless they would actually go to the expense of producing two versions of the device, which seems unlikely to me. Perhaps someone with a technical head might have some thoughts about how to find it?

Sorry, yes it's 60 ps / 59 bhp approx, isn't it?

I am really looking forward to driving mine. I have only ever seen one on the forecourt of a dealer in a distant part of the country. I ordered after test striving an up! 75 ps. That was one of only two up!s I have seen in this country (I really live in the sticks). I was in the Fatherland at the start of June and saw quite a few up!s there, but no Citigos.

I'm guessing it's just differences in software.

All 3 versions of the PiD having the same basic software which then has tweaks for each manufacturer.

As the car already has all the sensors etc to allow the trip computer to do its thing, and the think blue trainer should rely on the same for its calculations, I'm willing to bet if we could find a willing Up owner, we could also be able to have it.

Would we have to rename it Think Green ?

Not yet got my citigo but assuming you can plug into a PC and see the onboard memory files the os is the same as VW up surely porting it across would be simple drag and drop of exe files or maybe flashing the entire ROM the same as you do when installing a custom rom on android devices

Plugs into pc with USB.

There's various folders on the drive.

All the satnav stuff is in the navigon folder.

I found splash screens for Skoda, vw and seat in there and versions of other files linked to each of the manufacturers.

As far as the maps go, it is like any other satnav. A base map in ROM and then the latest version of that as seperate country files.

A male and female voice for each language too.

Backing up the whole unit takes about 10 mins and updating the maps takes similar time.

Is it possible to buy Move&Fun while actually being after prepayment and waiting for the car delivery? Is it available separately?

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi Everybody,

While waiting for delivery of our Citigo Elegance 60bhp 5 door, Leaf Silver, I bought the Move&Fun (which is an optional extra here in Ireland). My hope was that I could familiarise myself with it while waiting for the car, which is hoped for by the end of the month. When the unit is switched on it displays a screen prompting to 'connect it to your brand new car'. Must the unit be connected to the car, before it is possible to get beyond this prompt, into settings and also to check for firmware and map updates/register the unit?

If it must be initialised by connecting to a Citigo, will, for example the demo Citigo at the dealers be ok for the purpose, without causing a problem when I subsequently connect it to our car when delivered? If all that is ok will I be able to proceed to set it up, as described above?

Thanks, and hoping someone can help.

I think I heard that the PID device can only be linked to one vehicle, to prevent theft. So linking it to a dealer`s Citigo may not be a good idea.

Now that you mention it I think I may have come across that too. Any ideas about whether I can access the unit to download any possible firmware updates, maps and customise settings while I wait for car to be delivered, without causing any undesirable issues? I'm also not sure what constitutes a first turn on, from the point of view of the 30 days allowed to register and claim the voucher offer. I would be inclined to believe that would be from first initialisation in the car, rather than simply turning it on to find the screen message block to further progress. Hope so, or better still that our car arrives in less than 30 days

When we picked our car up I had a problem with the 30 days voucher for map updates offr.

Our PiD was apparently used for the first time more than 30 days previously.

Our unit was replaced with a brand new one.

According to the dealer and Tech1e on here, the 30 days starts from the first time the PiD gets a satellite fix so if have only got as far as the welcome screen you should be ok.

Thanks. All in all I think I will refrain from proceeding any further with trying to set it up, and leave it until the car comes. Thanks everyone.
