clutch engages late

Featured Replies

Hi there, I own a 2002 fabia 1.9 tdi and over the last week I have noticed the bite point of the clutch get higher and higher.

I have tried a couple of tests to see if the clutch is slipping and it doesn't seem to be, so I'm wondering if this could mean the clutch fluid is air locked?? does anyone know how I could check this or have any other suggestions as to what the problem might be???

How many miles has the car covered?

Any problems with the fluid system would create a lower bite as the cylinder wouldnt be pushing as far. My suspicion would be a worn clutch plate, however if its not slipping dont worry too much.

Does it create any noise if you take your foot off the clutch in neutral? (engine running of course)

Mines doing the same thing. lower and lower bite point. but if I play with the pedal in the free play bit it recovers. I did have a quote of £160 to sort it but the cluch is not slipping yet so can live with it

lower and lower would be either master or slave cylinder, pumping it makes it recover then its either of those, you have the opposite problem to this guy
