what's behind the black rubber strips on the doors?

Featured Replies

 Often wondered, never found out. I'm referring to the strip which runs halfway up the doors, which is sort of built into a "ripple" in the smoothness of the door. Is it just stuck on with adhesive? Anyone thought about removing them? :)

Stuck on with adhesive, theres nothing behind them, looks smoother without... :)

TBH I'd rather keep mine on than risk a dent in the door

The new Fabia Sport is Stripless and it does look OK.

you really sure it looked ok :s

mine are coming off when i get a spare 5 minutes

Me too, although I think it would take a lot of force to dent the door. Metal feels alot thicker than my old clio.

i still maintain they arnt in a great position to stop dents

Yep they looked nice in red. I think the Sport badge on the rear is aslo in red. I think on a silver car they look nice but perhaps not on black, Looks a little different, but it's Individual choice

ps.......I think the seat also have a Tinge of red in them as well

Depends on what car your next to...

I left them on the octy, I got fed up with supermarket trollies running into the side and car doors being opened into a previous car and denting it. My neighbours old Ford Ka had so many dents in it caused by car doors the side looked rippled. My 4 year old octy has no dents in it whatsoever, so I guess they work.

Indeed had some tw*t in a disco open his door which has left a nice mark in my door, which was very nice of him dont you think :finger:

Well, I'm not too fussed about bump protection as when I tend to damage cars, a little bump strip doesn't help that much.

Will try whipping it off at the weekend!

might be worth sticking it on the roof

:finger: As I was saying, I could bloody COVER my entire car with door bumper mould strips, and it still wouldn't help. Just been out to inspect, and I have a feeling the car will look much sweeter without them, so shall have a go at removing, probably Sunday.

Care to elaborate a little please? :) Any help I can gain from your toil and trouble is more than welcome!!! ;)

I was going to get mine painted body coloured but I noticed just above the black rubbing strip there is also a line which runs parallel and from memory it too is slight raised, so it'd look a bit daft imo to have two bits stuck out painted the same colour, hope you all know what im talking about

Suffice to say the sticky stuff they are held on with is a little more "industrial" than the badges on yer boot lid. Patience is the key and plenty of lighter fuel!!!!

Does give a much cleaner look when they're off :D

TBH i reckon the furby looks better with the strips ON.

:P

When they are removed are there adhesive remains or does it come off clean?

how about colour codeing them :o
