Second Gear Crunch

I've just got my Roomster (07 1.4tdi 80) back from the dealers after having the gearbox removed, stripped down & the second gear synchro replaced. It has made a big difference. The gearchange is now perfect. I had one month left on my Skoda used car warranty so I decided to get it done. I think Skoda were trying to put me off having it done though as the dealer said if they stripped it down & the synchro wasn't faulty it would cost me £880 .I would advise anyone who has an approved warranty on their car to get it done as the results are well worth it. If you haven't got any warranty & have this problem & decide you want it fixed properly it may be worth talking

to Skoda to see if they would contribute something towards the repair as it is a known fault.
