Bumble Bee strike

Amazed to find that despite the roof being able to take the weight of a helicopter, it cannot withstand the impact of a humble bumble bee at 70mph indicated; left a very very slight 'dent' in the roof just above the windscreen :S

maybe it was wearing a crash helmet at the time?

Blimey, that must have been a real HARD bee! :strong:

Brings to mind the old joke:--

Whats the last thing to pass through the bees mind when it hits the windscreen ---- its a*se silly!!

Was probably a ****chafer?

How did you know it was a bee?

How did you know it was a bee?

Caught sight of it just prior to impact; quite a thump it made, hence checking the roof on getting home.

One of the 'Dents Plus' type operators will sort that for you, Tim?

Provided they can slide one of their many specialist tools into the space at the rear of the dent, almost 100% success!

We had the local man remove a parking ding on 'er indoors Fabia today - undetectable and very reasonable too

It's hard to beelieve that the humble bumble could cause such a dent. Sorry about the pun - I was bored and couldn't resist it!

People really need to bee more careful....

Hope its an easy(and cheap) fix

Bloody hell, stay away from Yorkshire, they have Bee's that make dents in metal, and people who can spot one when doing 70 MPH

Nice one! That wasp erfect!

Caught sight of this notice on the BeeBeeSee news: Missing, George and humble worker, quite distinctive in his full leathers and helmet. Queeny and the family are keen to get in touch: he was last seen on a practise flight over south yorkshire.

I'm still not sure who was doing 70mph, was it the yeti or the bee?

Surely if the yeti was doing 70 mph and the bee was doing say 10mph the impact speed would be 80mph.

Ahh, can of worms beeing opened here, was it travelling in the same direction or head on?

If it was in the same direction it wouldn't have hit the front of the roof, and secondly it would have broken the world speed record for a Bee

Unless the Yeti hit it from Bee-hind?

Unless the Yeti hit it from Bee-hind?

In which case the combined speed would have bee n 60mph

In which case the combined speed would have bee n 60mph

Oh beehave...

Also .....

Nobody has yet introduced the factor of wind (air flow).

If the car was doing 70mph then the air passing over the windscreen would be doing at least that, may be more!

I suspect the aviators among us will be able to calculate the laminar air flow.

So the bee must have been deflected - if only a little bit, then its vector speed would have been less than its true speed.

Unless the Yeti hit it from Bee-hind?

I think you would've had to have BEEn there to comment (thank you to SWMBO for that snippet - I know it's kinda gone off topic but it's given me a good giggle to see the responses and after a bad week it's nice to have some light humour)

I suppose it all goes to prove that Yorkshire bees are hard! :notme:

Wait until one hits you in the forehead full on, that bloody hurts. I hasten to add not at 70mph but pretty hard and it left it's sting behind, painful. I'm very wary now whenever I see a bee..........beeing very careful.

Mick

When i was a child I ran down a steep hill at the same time a bee was flying up at a good speed, said be flew right up my nostril and the tweezers had to come out of the first aid kit for the following lengthy process of removal, not a pleasant experience. What are the odds of that? unbeelievable !
