VRS Remap torque figures

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Am I right in thinking a mapped CR TDI will be about 305 ft/lb and a mapped petrol TFSI etc would be about 345? If so that's impressive for the petrol considering the jump from standard torque levels and the fact it's not a diesel. This is based on the figures I've seen people putting up.

Not sure what mine is running on a standard Shark map as I can't remember what Ben told me, only that he normally sees about 212bhp with the DPF still attached which mine is.

Chris.

No.

Remapped tfsi will be more like 280 lbft.

Remapped tsi will be 320+lbs. Obviously you asked about tfsi though which is a bit less.

my Shark Stage 1 mapped TSI made 305lbft, my bum dyno says my stage 2 map is making at least 320lbft but I havent got to a rolling road to confirm that.

CR TDi 332lb ft here

Ah I see. So the TFSI doesn't give anywhere near the same torque gains as the TSI. In which case the TSI is really torquey when mapped which is impressive. What kind of torque figures are usual for a CR after a map? I see 330 ft/lb has been mentioned. Don't think I'm pushing that much.

436 Newton metres, shark stage 1 on a tsi. Sorry can't be bothered to do the maths to convert to foot pounds.

=321.53 lb ft

Either a stage 1 with this engine is stunning, or there are some dodgy dynos out there!

Standard car is 207lb ft, so that's a 50%+ increase being quoted, yet the power is what, at best 250. So if the remapped max torque is that high, it must be at a pretty low engine speed, otherwise you'd see a corresponding power increase, and the general concensus is that at absolute best you'd see about 260bhp from a stage 1 remap, which if was available/peaked around 6k would mean something around 280-290 lb/ft surely?

Plenty ;)

This is my point. That's a huge hike in torque considering the horsepower figures. This is why I'm asking as I had my doubts when I was reading the figures people put up. Those are diesel torque figure territories.

To answer your question - its stunning!

I am one of many TSI stage 1 owners that have similar output figures. My Shark stage 1 is dyno'd at 255bhp & 325lb torque. That is on a Bapro RR which is considered to give conservative results.

TBH it is the massive increase in torque that hits you most after the remap. I was told by Ben at Shark that VAG engines are notorious for having a torque restriction on them as standard, and thats why they see big increases after map.

When I went stage 2 on the tsi, there was so much more torque that I immediately had to shell out £800 on a better clutch! Pull from low down in any gear is amazing now though.

So the tsi engine is much more responsive to the remap than the older tfsi engine? I doubt mine is much more than 260 - 270 according to my bum dyno. But then I don't think the engine is functioning correctly

I need to get me some of those extra torques . . .

Puts me off stage 2 if I need to fork out that much for a new clutch. Yours still running ok on pm3?

I'm quite amazed at those torque levels on a standard engine.

This compares stock map with the tweaked stage 1 shark map. It made 419 Nm on this run but 436 Nm on the run a few minutes earlier. Either way its a whole heap of torque and a massive improvement vs. stock. TBH it really winds me up when people compare re-maps by looking at peak torque figures - its the area under the curve that's important not a peak figure and its actually the torque that makes it feel quick in normal driving on the road, not the power per se.

The most impressive thing with the map is that between 2500 and about 4500 rpm it has more than 100 Nm more than stock. For a 400 quid reversible mod this really is a no brainer.

Ditto Jonno's comment too - its diminishing returns comparatively from this point - yes you could go stage 2 but you'd need a clutch and (if you have not already done it) chassis and probably brake upgrades to handle it.

Just looking at the talk so remaps. I want to get my Octavia VRS TDI CR, remapped, but can not seem to find any were that does it near me.

Just curious if anyone can tell me that best make of remap to get? Also I dont suppose anyone knows of the any were in Northamptonshire that can does them?

Also curious if people have found that it gives extra MPG or also what type of extra bhp you can expect to get?

Many Thanks.

Shark at Mansfield are not exactly a long way from you (think about it in comparison to the amount of miles you will do whilst you own the car).

Expect around 200BHP from a 170CR plus a couple of extra MPG (when driven the same)

Here's the dyno graph from my TFSI vRS

Just over 300lb/ft and a max of just under 260hp

Difference from when it was stock is like night and day....

Is that Stage 2 mark?

Yeah all good thanks. Had a few 'cylinder misfire' incidents but since switching to V-Power from Tesco 99 its all cleared up. Had a very fast Goodwood-Devon run earlier and surprised quite a few cars including a Boxster and 635D!

The power curve is similar to what I'd expect mine should (and probably did) the day and following week it was done by Shark. Its only since the clowns in west wales meddled with it have I lost something, or at least so I think! The days after having it mapped it was easily quick enough to worry scoobies and embarrass Type R owners, I'm pretty sure it doesn't right now.

It's stage 2,

Car is fitted with blueflame 3'' downpipe and decat, forge twintercooler, still on original fuel pump, no cuts at all, runs all the way to the redline with no hesitation.

Love it!
