Deposit contribution

Featured Replies

As of 1st July new Octavias will receive £500 deposit contribution when financing through VWFS, and still benefit from 3 years/30k free servicing.

The usual exclusions apply with stock Scouts and 4x4 models.

So does that mean, that if I was to go into my dealer this week and complete a deal on my new car, and they set up the finance this week, then there would be a £500 deposit contribution on the car?? Just curious thats all?

+1.

Hoping to pick mine up soon too.

The car needs to be ordered within this quarter and the finance proposed and accepted for the contribution to stand.

Minimum advance is £3,000.

This deal sounds tempting - can you let me know the % APR please and financed over what period (prefer hire purchase myself).

Need to see if the VWFS rate is competitive enough compared to a bank loan (ie are they financing the free servicing and discount through higher APR?).

Many thanks.

It could have been tempting, but I have to say that I didn't find the finance particularly enticing.

You can get a much bigger contribution from BMW/Merc and a similar monthly figure for a 3 series / c class.

How much pencil sharpening room is there from VW finance, or is what you see pretty much what there is?

For me finance doesn't make sense unless it's either a straight lease or a very good deal.

Just spoke to my dealer who has confirmed that it is based on when the finance agreement is signed and not when the order is placed.

Another £500 off the price of the car for me then. I only agreed to the minimum amount of finance over the minimum period to get the free servicing. Glad I did now.

Metblackrat - was going by my update and was awaiting confirmation to see if it could be put on cars ordered before but you got there first - Thanks.

That was a nice little touch for you then

Well looks like I have been taken for a mug then!

Long story!

I had a petrol DSG VRS, very happy with it, no issues etc, however was always visiting the petrol pumps! So decided about 5 months ago that I really should of had a diesel, so poped into the dealer and asked about how much it woud be to change to an equivalent diesel, overall it wasnt much more, and what I woudl save on visiting the pumps would far outweigh the extra monthly cost, deal was done, all done on the VAT offer, plus would get a few extras thrown in nearer the time, they said decide what sort of little freebies you would like and we would sort out for you.

Fast forward about 6-7 weeks, they ring up, car being built this week so ready to collect about 2-3 weeks time, fine, popped in the following week to check all was fine so while there I ask them to confirm what options had been ordered, they ran through the list, it says full leather, I didnt want leather, never even asked for leather, so they say its there **** up, will reorder the car, I ask will teh car be through by the end of June as my car tax is up then, and I am not retaxing it at my expense, yes it will be, if not then we will take yours of you and put you in a courtesy car until it arrives, thats fine, fast forward a few weeks, pop into dealer, they say car on track no reason why it will be any later than the end of the month, I ask about my extras that I wanted FOC, new sales manager in the dealership now and they go back on everything that was agreed, they say that unless it was written down on paper then it dont mean nothing, but as a gesture of good will they will install my secondhand Columbus in the new car and pay for the replacement facia plate, not too happy but its better than nothing I suppose, so reluctantly I agree, last week go into dealer and ask if car is on track for Saturday the 30th, yes all fine, it arrived at the port last week we are just awaiting delivery, few more days, nothing still stuck at the port, by this time I am getting edgy as ideally I dont want to lose my car without my replacement, Ok they will give me a courtesy car but I want mine really, anyway, gets to Thursday, car still at docks, but they need mine by the 30th so I go in on the 28th to complete the paperwork for my part exchange etc, as they want to sort all the finance out to avoid any delays on getting into my new car this week, so yes thats fine, go in, do all the paperwork, sorted all the finance out so by the end of it, the car is 'officially' mine but just havent taken delivery of it, no issue to me as long as I get full 12 months tax etc then thats fine, I am a laid back kind of guy, so thats that, go in Saturday drop of my old car, collect my courtesy car, this morning dealer rings me your car being delivered tomorrow, so we will sort it out and you can collect Wednesday afternoon or Thursday at the latest, fine.

Then the sticky, bit, I pick up on this thread, which states about £500 deposit contribution, anyone think I have been taken for a ride here??

The car is officially mine as I signed all teh documents last Thursday, but I havent taken delivery as of yet, that is this week, Wednesday or Thursday, forgive me for being cynical but have I just walked into a trap to get around them having to contribute £500 to the car???

If so, anyone know what I do from here please? If I am right and I have been taken the **** out off what do I do, I must admit I am so angry about this as all I see is me walking into a trap, and being honest if I am going to be ****** normally I would at least get a kiss first! I am tempted to go to the dealer tomorrow and try and resolve this, but with all teh **** ups on this car so far I really feel I might lose my rag and that aint going to do anyone any good, but, £500 is £500 it aint small change is it!!!

Thoughts??

I suppose that it depends on when the dealerships were made aware of the new deal...

If they didn't know about it until the first of the month (i.e. Yesterday); then you havent been taken for a ride, the dealer wanted to get the sale of the car on their books for June and not July. Common practice as far as I am aware is that as soon as they can officially close the sale, they will do. If the dealer was aware before the date of you going in to sign the paperwork then you've been very unfortunate. All I can suggest is that you speak to them tomorrow and if that doesn't get you anywhere then speak to Skoda UK and see if they can do anything, mention that this isn't your first car with them and that you're a loyal customer, that always helps...

I'd doubt there's any reason why this should have been a dealer trick - most offers of this type

Are fully financed by the manufacturer so it's unlikely the dealer would care - in fact it's in their interest to delay the finance and try to spin it like they've done you a favour......

ISTR you pressed them into doing the deal in June as you didn't want to tax your old car.

In hindsight it would have benefitted you to buy the tax and cash it in a month later!

No, I didnt press them into doing teh deal in June, as it was of no benefit to me to do it in June, as my car was still a week away by some delay transporting it to my dealer, they were insistant that they wanted it on the books in June, it didnt make any difference to me as long as I got 12 months tax and I didnt lose any, but the car was going back by June 30th anyway, so it made sense to just tie it all up and keep it straight and have the courtesy car instead of my car to save having to retax it, but, then a few days later there is this additional offer that could of saved me £500 if the paperwork had been delayed by a couple of days, just seems a bit fishy to me, especially after all the problems I have had with this car, maybe it is a genuine new offer and the dealer didnt know anything about it, but on this occasion I cant help being slightly cynical.

I hope there was nothing sinister, and I am sure there isnt, but it all just seemed suspect. Being honest, this whole deal has just gone belly up from the very start so I am not surprised this has happened, just another thing to get frustrated with!

The £500 contribution did only come in to effect yesterday, which is when we were made aware of it - somewhat annoying to the customer if they have just taken finance but as with all new quarter campaigns we don't know what's going to happen until they get released to us.

Enjoy the car!

Thanks for the details, so at least that makes me feel better that the dealer wasn't trying to pull one over on me, just feel a bit annoyed as I haven't taken delivery and a £500 extra deal comes into play!

Off to see the car this afternoon as its being delivered to the dealer this morning and sorry to of hijacked this thread!?!

Not a problem at all James - nearly every thread goes off topic but yours was at least related

As before enjoy the car

So a new Octavia could now be had with 20% vat price reduction, £500 deposit contribution and 3 years free servicing. I was looking at getting a 1 year old with12k miles, but it looks like it won't cost much more for brand new. Are there any models you cant get now ? The brochure states some are stock only so presumably that might limit the choices..

The only specs this is not available on are the Scout and 4x4 - everything else is covered

I ordered my Octy vRS a month ago for a September delivery, I have put down I intend to have the 2 year, £2k finance option (to get the free servicing)

I will head down to the dealer on Thursday, I haven't signed any finance agreement yet, only paid the deposit on the car.

Will this be a problem?

If not then with the extra £500 off, £17,450 for a diesel vRS DSG is a steal :-D

I ordered mine in April and take delivery on about 10 days. I have paid £14000 deposit and have £1500 over 12 months on finance. The rest is my part ex. I have got the three years free servicing and have been told in writing that I will be getting the £500 deposit contribution however they dont know how I am getting it yet as the car is effectively paid for. They think a £500 cheque back from what I have paid already is the most likely answer.

fingers crossed then

Thanks, car arrived at dealer today, looks awesome, hopefully collect tomorrow afternoon or THursday morning!

Ok went in to my dealer last week who finally got back to me today with an answer of NO

They have asked Skoda UK who said it is not possible to offer the additional £500 as I ordered it 5 weeks ago. I haven't signed any finance and won't do so until end of August.

Not impressed to say the least, Has anyone got the email address of Skoda customer services?

Thanks

Tell em to rework the figures to take account of it then, thats what my dealer done, as like one of the other posters mehtioned it makes no difference to the dealer as its Skoda UK contribution, the finanace man in your place should be able to sort it out, tell em you will walk away if Skoda UK wont honour the offer! Read my situation up the top and with a bit of protesting to the dealer they sorted mine out, you dont sign any paperwork until you take delivery of the car, so at the moment any finance is purely a quote, they will of obviously agreed to finance you if they have allowed you to order a car, the finer points and final figures of the finance will take effect from when you take delivery.

For example, my car, what I was quoted at time of order and what I am actually paying per month is £50 cheaper now than I was quoted, reason being for finance purposes they now have stronger residuals add in the £500 deposit contribution and bingo thats saved me £50 per month, makes me wish I had ordered more options now...!!!

But seriously, kick up with the dealer and also Skoda UK, but you need to speak to VWFS really to get something sorted Skoda Customer Services will just say its a finance thing so you will need to speak to the financial people.

Good luck and report back!
