Are they meant to be Illuminated?

Featured Replies

When my lights are one either side lights/main beam, the swtich for the lights don't coem on neither does the mirror switch. These are meant to illuminate arent they? If so what fuse is it (if it is a fuse)?

All the radio/heater switches light up.

Thanks

Dont think they do... im going to have to look at mine when i finish work.... but im sure they dont light up.

Zach

There is a bulb in the headlight switch. Take a look at fuse F35.

It also feeds the heated rear window switch

The rear heated switch works. But im sure the mirror switch and light switch worked. :wall:

When you say the heated window switch works, do you mean it is backlit with the lights on?

Yup and it does it's job.

Do you want to know if the 'large circular' Side light, head light switch should light

and the 'mirror adjust & heating element' switch on the door?

Mine do not back light, and i do not want them to.

george

I've not seen backlighting for the 'mirror adjust & heating element' switch on the door.

AFAIK, all the main lightswitches either are or can be backlit. I've seen three variants - No backlighting, backlighting when DRLs are on and backlighting when sidelights are on.

I'm not sure you need it (sidelights, headlights, foglights are a big clue to the switch position :) ), but if you have an earth on pin 10 and a feed from fuse F35 to pin 17 the switch will be backlit with the sidelights on.

Unless some switches don't have the bulb in.

Might not be needed, but why do they liight up on other cars then? Why have skoda missed it out?

Coz your car was a bargain and you got things that they never!

Like more smiles per miles. 'Maybe'.

Yes i knew they were meant to. Had to drive a 12 plate Monte Carlo this morning and they lit up.

Sooooo anyone know what fuse it is? Seen above Fuse 35. So will have a look at tonight and report back.

Thank you so much for the photo Wilko. Thought I was going mad. :hi:

You never told us when yours was built and you still have not said when yours was built.

Mid or early 2010 and mine has no Back Lighting or means of 'Back Lighting'.

How do i know?

because the Dash is stripped just now and the interior door panel is removed.

Guessed you couldn't of been at work today George with the amounts of threads with sk4gw last posted in ;-) lol

During the day i am 'trolling' to find a bargain car to repair & paint.

Good fun being retired!

Do you have wires to pins 10 and 17 of the switch?

If you connect 12V to pin 17 and ground to pin 10, does it light up?

I will have a look later but its in getting a roll cage fitted.

The lots is stripped out of the door now, central locking glass and mirrors, but everything is sitting there.

Lol, I've read this on 3 different threads I think!

Probably on the same threads beside your posts and questions about your proposed 'Re-Map' and getting lowering springs fitted.

While you have asked and thought and asked,

i have researched the French Traffic law and insurance that effects your vehicle, and made some money and ordered some bits and planned some more modifications.

Great for killing time & Googling and even ordering stuff, is the Net.

Lol, what are you saying here really? I have some questions so I open one (1!) thread and ask, typical forum procedure... You're not asking anything at all (in fact you never ask) you just spam other people's threads repeating all the same... Instead if being ready to throw a silly accusation every time, maybe rethink what other people are actually telling you...

'' hear you and the others, 'I am boring', & also that only those that make positive posts & like to be positive on re-maps, and agree with them.

Its great how the forum works for you.

You all do great getting others to do your work for you and are obviously doing things the right way.

Good luck with it all and hope they are all supportive in assisting you.

george

Wrong again, you confuse me with somebody else. I don't have the slightest problem hearing an opposite opinion, in fact I like it as I think maybe I'm wrong there. And what is that "getting others to do the work for you?" I have no problem accepting I'm clueless on something so I ask people with more experience. I agree with you that I don't suffer from the typical "I'm old so I have to know everything and can never ask anything"- syndrome which inevitably is encountered in forums every now and then. Maybe in several years time I'll be just the same who knows....

Just went out and checked, they illuminate in mine as well when on sidelights or main beam!

Re Back Lighting,

My 2010 vRS did have Backlighting available for the Headlight & Mirror switches, just they were not connected.
