My friend just bought a MK1 VRS SE for just over £5000. Reason it was so cheap - the previous owner had lost the service history - Guess where we found it!

  • The entrance to Narnia!

  • And I presume that it's not a problem on the diesel as it doesn't evaporate in the same way. So as long as I drive it like I stole it after every fill up it should be OK. Sorted.

Can't say I ever clocked the wiper thing although that's cool. Considering I do t have a rear wiper now :p

The under seat storage boxes are great too :D Don't forget the can cooler driver's side under light switch also :D

the air recycler comes on when you select reverse too to stop you filling the car with diesel fumes.

Don't overlook the secret compartment on driver's side under the dash, just right of & under the wheel . Also hidden fron view and not looked for until needed is the in car fuse box- it's in the usual VAG position on the drivers end of the dashboard.Open door, and it's flap at the end .

AH! And there was me telling the missus she was imagining things on her MPi...oops...WHY is it not mentioned anywhere? She's been worrying about that...

They're all mentioned in the manual...

I dont know about this

But where's the fun in that??!? Always nice to get little surprise!

 Oh no, the secret's out.. thieves will know where to look for my phone, wallet and headunit facia when i go to the gym now!

And there is also the glasses holder (or at least that's what I use it for!) - a small, open fronted rubberised shelf / slot at the base of the dash board under the steering wheel...

Mine's not rubberised? :(

I too forced the price of my SE down due to lack of service history and a week later found it all in the cubby hole, along with every receipt for the car too

All hail the hidden service history goldmine

All I got was a few spare bulbs and fuses :(

That's cool :-)

I like the button in the fuel filler tube. When you fill up and the pump stops, push the metal tab in with your finger, air gets released, fill up, keep repeating this to brim it :) can do over 200 miles before the needle comes Off full :)

Or, You can remove it completely!

I can't find that button thing in the filler. Either I'm blind or it's been taken out already.

I had my car serviced at a Skoda dealer today. On getting back in the car I had the foresight to check the service book - it wasn't stamped! I took it in and they said "We couldn't find it!". It was of course in the glovebox below the false bottom. So even dealers don't know about it!
