This is what it now looks like

Surely that should be an easy replacement, however you'll might need the whole new unit " the bits that loose" as it wouldn't be repairable, on the other had that gearlever must be made of marzipan

Do you drive with your hand on the lever?

However...Take it to your dealer

Warranty issue

You drove round a corner into standing water with your hand on the gear stick?

Ring Skoda assist.

Looks like something Ann Summers would sell

Hope you get it sorted, Warranty Jobbie me thinks

Wondering if its worth refurbing as their booked in for powder coating next week :(

Ouch!

+1!!

Ouch! Didn't think the gear selector lever on the Fabia vRS was that fragile!

How did you kurb ur wheel going through standing water?

Sharp water?

Wondering if its worth refurbing as their booked in for powder coating next week :(

No point getting it refurbed, might as well buy a new one in my opinion. I looked at getting a couple of mine done, and they said because they're diamond cut, they can't get them back to how they were originally. They wanted around £100 a wheel I think, and you can get a new one for £136 from skoda.

Hope the gear lever can be fixed soon!

I still want to know how you managed to rip your gear stick off

That's the drivers side alloy?

Assuming the standing water was on the inside of the corner (where is normally collects?) have you aqua planed onto the opposite side of the road and into the kerb? Or did you spin out?

Either way a wonky knob and scuffed alloy means you are a lucky lad!

That doesn't look like a diamond cut wheel. Some of the other finishes available for the vrs alloy are diamond cut though.

You should be able to get it refurbed for less than the cost of a new replacement, but you might want to look at how much you could sell it on for as is & consider offsetting the proceeds against the cost of a new one to see which option works out cheaper.

For those with diamond cut wheels, they can still be refurbed but it will cost more to do than a std alloy wheel.

Fwiw Lepsons.com are highly regarded for refurbing m3 diamond cut wheels to a high standard so should be capable of doing a good job on vrs diamond cut wheels too. See there website for prices

The spokes are not touched, so what has that to do with anything?

so its on a Milling machine and skim the edge or the rim to see how much alloy is left,

then thats one odd weighted rim,

so if it works with enough meat left, you need another one done to have a matching pair.

give it to somebody like me that will ruin it anyway.

The alloy is like chocolate and i doubt worth wasting anyones time on.

A pair might just be ok to put a set of Winter narrow tyres on once Skimmed.

Is that a cut on the tyre wall?

george

PS 'Some' might after getting the edge tidied try those AlloyGator Rim savers to hide the edges.

Not that cheap tho, or worth it.

Some Spare single Wheels of that type must be kicking about.

All who are wondering about me ripping the gear stick off, basicly im used to manual cars and always have my hand on the gearstick it just feels natural to me, when i aquaplained i just locked up next thing i know im holding the gearstick at shoulder height.... All is fixed quite a simple solution realy, split the gearstick in half at the seams and remove... Then depress the button and slide back onto its mounting and it will relocate into the lift pin :)

I was looking at getting it refirbed and buying black vrs alloys for summer and keeping them for winter ones? Bit expensive but il see what people say when i take it to the spechialists thank you all for your help :)

Ps the water actualy covered the kirb stones so i assume it was the outside kirb i connected with (yes it is drivers side) went back earlyer on and its 8inces deep on the corner with no signs of flooding untill you are actualy in the water :(
