Superb 1.9 130 pd manual edition 100

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just bought one of these, and just wondering what all your thoughts are on this car. It's only done 30k miles, so I'm hoping for many years of quality motoring from it :)

Lovely cars those. Always had a soft spot for them

Best engine to go for and such low miles, excellent find.

Look after it and check the usual suspects like the pollen filter housing and your laughing.

Good good, is it just checking the pollen filter housing is seated correctly? Does it suffer the same water ingress problem as the passats and of so does removing the plastic gromits help?

I was amazed to find it to be fair, there are so few superbs of that age for sale. :)

Yes, exactly the same problem

I'd take the grommets out, remove the pollen filter housing the seal it to the body. Prevention is better than cure.

Good advice - don't bodge the water seal for the pollen filter holder. Remove the wiper arms and trim at the base of the screen (fragile) and then the pollen filter holder. The original foam outer seal will be sodden and split. Replace with mastic strip.

I have a Superb with this engine. It will achieve a genuine 60mpg at 70mph and goes well enough. It's also an excellent towcar. I'm keeping it.

You can't buy a diesel as good as this one now. A trip into central London can leave a DPF equipped car in trouble with no escape for a regen. The 1.9 will sit there for hours without any problems. Whoever wants their driving style to be dictated by the car?

rotodiesel.
