As i said ive had one but sold the car and my mates have all had theres for over 2 years!

I've got an Eonon unit I'm prepping for install.... If you're considering this unit I will post a much more informative post with everything you need to

do and buy as its not really plug n play!

Overall I am happy with the unit (I did set it all

up but wasn't happy with how it was sat so took it all out again for some slight modification!)

Let us know how you get on. I'm currently looking for a low cost double din stereo but want a good ipod interface!

Well it's in and sat a lot better than before but haven't sorted the surround yet... Waiting for a 2nd one to see if it's any better!

I did write the guide on word with some hyperlinks but they didn't carry across and was too late last night to fart arse around to fix it all by the time I was done.... My only free night is tomorrow so will try to sort it all and will stick it up.

First impressions of the iPod interface was not good if I'm honest, but did do the bloke thing of plug it in and press some buttons so it may be ok once I know what I'm doing with it!

I have seen other write ups for the system saying the ipod connectivity is a little dodgy. Would be nice to see some photo's of the final product and an overall verdict if it was a worth while purchase. I'm currently in two mind whether to get a high end single din unit like a sony or alpine....or to get a low end double din unit like the Eonon or Beat unit.... your verdict may sway me on this one!

I'm looking to replace my parrot rki 8400 (cr*p) with this,

No usb at the back but otherwise it looks a pretty good buy, Halfords have it on display for about £350 but it was still nice to see it in the flash so to speak.

Halfrauds have the Alpine above on sale for £170 at the moment. The install was like night and day it's so much easier to fit a double DIN than a single, all I did was cut the bottom off the aftermarket single DIN facia to fill the space above the stereo.

Looks nice as well (sorry about the poor quality pic).

[edit]

What's with the attitude at Halfords? The guy tried to tell me I needed all sorts of after market bits to fit the stereo - apparently I needed a cage amongst other things. When I told him I was ok (was going to get anything extra at car audio direct - I didn't need anything extra in the end) he was in a proper mood.

Must be targeted for addons.

You must remember a lot of halfords people believe there own garbage that they actually know what they are doing and because they sell it. It is actually required and it will correctly fit even though you can buy it for less somewhere else

The only reason I go there is it's quicker than the internet for small stuff, I was there for bike oil. It just happened that the stereo was on offer.

It fitted fine with the supplied cage, nice and snug.

Thanks for the heads up in that! I am going to buy one :)

Not double din but the best head unit I've had in ages in functionality. Mechless so is actually under £100. Good amp, lots of connections and full iPod control.

Have you got a model number for this unit?

The missus has one in her car, she loves it. Personally I can't stand it, I'd recommend trying to get a play with it before buying.

I think the model of hers is DSX-S300BTX, iirc it's a series of players with/without bluetooth etc.

Sorry this was a while ageo but got a question when you fitted you head unit did you need to put a perminant live into the back aswell? Mine doesn't seem to store like the time etc? Also wondered where you got you live from? Oh and where did you get the small piece of trim on top?

Thanks!

Pop it out and swap your red and yellow cables over. Its a really common issue people have, you wont be able to save any settings etc :)

If you've purchased a decent loom to fit the unit the cables should have bullet connections to do this easily.

Woohoo thanks a bunch! Was doing my head in just fitted it today and I was away to start ripping the dash apart looking for a live! Haha! Don't suppose you know where to get the trim bit aswell?

I've got the pioneer AVH-2400BT and love out, anyone know how to put your own photo background onto one?

Dudes, where do you get so splendidly looking headunits? The ones I can get around here are rubbish, and they look like they've fallen out of Blade Runner.
