Noisekiller Review

Featured Replies

Hope this is in the right place, admittedly it was in a Furby vRS but either way ;)

Steve mobile-fitted my Furby with the noise killer materials.

We decided against fitting the pads in the door panels as they are rivited in and when I later asked the dealer (see below for why) he recommended against taking the door panels off anyway.

The difference is pretty subtle, in that it works but it kinda 'dulls' the road and engine noise. When at motorway speeds the difference is most noticable as the car remains more quiet and the music sounds 'cleaner'. Note I have standard HU/changer in case you wanted to know.

Steve did an excellent job.

The fuel flap at the rear of the car didn't shut any longer however ;) - reason being that the padding on the rear wheel arches had to be fitted and this dislodged the release cable.

Thus the visit to the dealer ;) - Easy job to fix, free of charge anyway :)

I will let Steve know about the Furby fuel-flap-release cable so he knows for next time :D

Whether the cost is worth it to you is hard to say. It is not the worst car for noise but for me I think it was worth it. It just reduces the background noise level that little bit further, making the car feel 'more expensive' ;)

I've been in touch with Steve, and he said it was all quite easy to fit in the Furby, so will probably buy the kit from him.

I'd like to experience the difference, if possible ;)

Did you have the doors sound proofed in any way? What about the firewall?

Cheers!

Nope nothing on the doors as per above.

Boot was pretty much done throughout (wheel arches, under spare). Due to the sticker with numbers on that the dealer mentioned to me contains a bunch of information they can use/need to use, Steve decided to put a flat 'piece' under the 'floorboard' - this as the other stuff is sticky and the Skoda sticker wouldn't budge (must have used glue or something for that one).

Steve also covered under the bonnet lid, and under the carpets and I believe the transmission tunnel was done too.

The firewall is virtually impossible to get to from the engine side and apparently is fairly well sound-proofed :)

It's a shame the doors didnt get done but I fully appreciated Steve's comment that he did not want to damage them, and based on the costings from the dealer (150 quid a door pretty much for materials & labour) I'm not gonna do anything with those myself unless someone shows me how to do it first (on their car ;) )

For the money and if you fit it yourself it seems to work very well. Steve did an excellent job and although it costs extra of course, it was well-fitted.

Unfortunately I won't be around much to go to any meets as I need to get my house tidied for a remortgage valuation, so that's my bank holiday weekend gone :(

Drop us a PM though and perhaps we can sort something :)

Sounds good, wouldnt like the extra weight though :D

It's not that heavy, but yes it does add a little weight :)

So far I have noticed zero impact on performance related to the extra weight though

I'm looking at getting the noise killer kit for my ibiza as the sample materials look quite impressive.

Steve is away at the mo though apparently so I don't really have any details of what you get for your 165 notes, not much looking at the pricelist of how much a sheet of the stuff costs:o

Can anyone remember exactly whats in the kit?

If you drop them an email they'll send you the fitting guide for your model. Sorry to hear they can't soundproof the bulkhead, though (on the Fabia at least) as that's how most of the sound gets into the car. Larger vehicles with double bulkheads are much better.

I've dropped them a mail and got the fitting sheet for the ibiza but it seems to only cover the 5 door and also says it contains sound deadening under the bonnet, is that additional to the OEM stuff that seat riveted on?:S

It should be, on mine it's basically fitted under the OEM cover.

Thinking of getting this. Wonder if they can now do the doors as well now?

Hi, What is the price for this work to be done on a fabia? only £165 fitted?

thanks

It was £285 fitted (£195 for kit, £90 factory fitting).

I echo WW_VRS's experiences (even down to the fuel filler cap!).
