Nets - how do you use them?

Featured Replies

So, the Urban is settling in at home and I'm really enjoying it, playing with the seats, stereo and all the other toys but I'm a bit confused by the bag of nets that was thrown in the boot. There are 2 larger ones and 1 small one. They each have 2 hoops and 2 clips to (I presume) fasten them on to something somehow.

Can someone please tell me how these things work? I've got the nagging suspicion that it may be quite clever and/or useful but I can't figure it out.

Ta in advance.

The two "square" ones sit either side of the boot, with the clips on the metal hoops at the bottom, and the loops over the upper bars, which you will note have little "nicks" in them to hold the nets.

Long rectangular net fits across the boot, from side to side, either at the front or the back, using the same mountings as above.

Thanks, will have a look at it later on when I get home.

Nets- for the rear windows perhaps :giggle: Just get the drop right, and set the spacing right. :giggle:

Seriously, I'd suggest for securing stuff in the boot area.

These of help,

Thanks TP. I've got 3 nets in all, I've fitted 2 as shown in your first picture and the other one has 4 clips so I'm assuming that it's for hold-down of things on the floor of the boot.

Much appreciated.

Yes the other is a boot floor net, though this is not supplied on vehicles with the factory fitted spare wheel option, hence it's omission from the photo.

For some reason I have the four nets, one with the four clips and i had the factory spare wheel fitted. I'm only certain of this as, an hour ago, after two years of owning the car and keeping the nets still packaged under the boot floor, I just opened them and installed them! :-)

I have my nets as follows

The large net across the back of the seats, (i think this is supposed to be the floor net) to hold coats and shopping bags out of the way.

The smaller net with the pocket I have on the right side of the boot to hold small items.

The longer net with the pocket I have across the front of the boot to hold umbrella and to stop things falling out of the boot when opened.

Again i only had 3 nets. and I haven't got the raised boot floor.

What nets should we have in the set, i thought it was only 3?

Factory supplied with spare wheel, two nets (no floor net)

Factory supplied with tyre repair kit, three nets.

I have 4 as the dealer who supplied the first Yeti gave me an extra set of the twin pack as a 'gisit'

Oh you can also purchase a 5 net system;

I tend to use the long one with picket across behind the rear seats for bottles of water and to stop my tool bag, warning triangle, golf brollies etc.. Sliding arounds.

The bigger one is used to stop my monopod and fold up seat from sliding over the boot.

Never used the side one

Long pocket one is across the back of the boot, holding the tool box in, and the pocket gets used for odds and ends, like water bottles.

Small side pocket ones; one side has got two waterproof light weight jackets, and the other side a hi-vis.

Floor net has currently got an empty large shopping bag under it.

I've got a long Toyota net system in the shed, if anyone wants it?

We used to live next door but one to a trucker and he wore nothing but a string vest as his upper garment all year round, no matter what the weather :wonder:

Lucky you. We live opposite a guy who likes to wash / polish his TT every single day, usually wearing just a pair of skimpy shorts.

Correct for accuracy!

They don't like it being called common terms, you know!! :giggle: :giggle:

Any bets on who will be the first?

  • 2 months later...

Just been reading the owner's manual of the new(ish)Yeti I've collected today (hoooray!) and see there is a "static separation net" available. I've googled this and have no hits nor are there any on the search facility of the briskoda site (although I'm still getting use to the sites layout/functions). Anyone know what this is and where I could acquire one?

I've had mine hanging on the sliding curry hooks since I got the car. I'll have to go and rehang them.

My nets are still in there bag and stuffed in the bottom right plastic pocket of the boot with the adjustable strap, am I really mission a trick?

Depends how much c r a p you keep in the boot, and whether what there is slides about. I seem to clooect bits and pieces plus my flask doesn't fall over.

Ours are still in the original cellophane, unopened ;)

I use mine on the rear seats between the ISOFIX points and headrest to keep the kids in place on their seats...... ( I was going to post a picture but my wife said people may actually believe it!!)

Thanx everyone!...I finally got around to doing something with them today...They kind of reminded me of Ena Sharples (Violet Carson) from Coronation Street.  :hi:
