Boost leak tester

Featured Replies

Anyone made one ??

Or know where I can buy one for the 1.8T

TIA

Dealer unit is pretty expensive iirc, but I think there are aftermarket options.

Are you thinking compressed air?

Bike pump would be better as I have one in the shed lol

Compressed not a problem though as I can get access to lines if needed

Bike pump could work.

Might not be to difficult to knock up tbh.

I know but it means I gotta go to B and Q and buy stuff lol

They go for about £30 on ebay from the states, but I ain't paying that as it'll sit there for years not testing anything once I'm done

Just thinking all you need is two plugs, one for the MAF maybe and one for the boot pipe onto the TB. Then drill a hole in one and fit with a tyre valve.

I'm looking at guides on poopra.net now, I think I'll have a bash, a metal tyre valve is what I need and a trip to city plumbing on the way home

ooo let me know how you get on Dave. I would like to do this before I get the engine out of mine.

then I can swap things as needed and test again when Back in lol.

Do you have an Eezibleed? In an emergency, I've used the pressure from a spare tyre to check for leaks.

I had a Mity-vac with me but I couldn't get enough air in, so the bicycle pump may not work.

I used a bake bean can with Schrader valve araldited in one end and opened ay the other , minus beans of course. And put a mini tyre compressor on it, seemed ok, but compressor noisy and didn't seem.to generate enough pressure to check whole system so will try again with proper compressor and double check.

Here is the little DIY one I made in my boredom time

What bits did you use for that, any ideas ??

Don't need one now as problem sloved, but if it's a few quid for the bits then why not.
