Pioneer stereo fitment

Featured Replies

Hi all, couple of questions regarding my stereo fitting, I got my stereo this morning started to fit and found that the cage was a really tight fit, is this normal with after market units?

Also I need to fit the Mic for the hands free so was wondering how the A - pillar trim comes off I was tempted to just yank at it but was worried about it breaking.

Yes, the cages are always tight to prevent the unit falling out. Sorry can’t help with the A - pillar as I’ve never removed one.

The A-pillar trim is easy, start at the top and pull into the car. I have had mine off a couple of times.

Here are some pics from when I did my w8 mod

Cheers fellas, going to attack the stereo again at the weekend, its in and working but its as p*ssed as a fart, I've fitted plenty of stereos but this is unbelievably tight, the cage buckles when trying to insert it!

Got the a pillar trim off easily, me + interior trim removal usually = broken trim.

I found I had to trim the edges of the dash surround where cage fits in ever so slightly with a stanley knife to get it to sit correct. Was still tight after doing this, just not wonky! :smirk:

same, has to take mm`s off in 1 corner from memory. i did think o oh when fittting my 1st DD into the skoda.

I Take it there is no other mods needed to fit a double din ie no brackets that need removed or anything of the sort? Just take out the old head unit and the cubby slap in the new cage and head unit possably trim a mm or 2 off the plastic edge to insert the cage. Just want to make sure before I spend £300 on one then find out iv got to butcher the car to fit it in.

When I fitted my alpine double din unit I sanded down the plastic insides of the dash with some 160 grit sandpaper to gain me around 1 mm of extra room for ease of cage fitting. Also you will find it Easyer to remove the H brace from the back of the dash for ease of hiding wires and making the unit fit flush with the front of the dash

Hope all goes well for you ..

Who? What? When? What's this H bracket you speak of? I'm guessing it doesn't actually hold anything in if your saying to remove it. Don't want my dash to end up on my lap the first time I give it the beans.
