Fabia 1 mkII

Featured Replies

Can anything be done to a skoda fabia 1 mkII just to make it that little bit more guttsy

Just wondering that's all been looking at a number of obvious choices ( exhaust and induction ) just want to know wether there's any thing else

Thanks

Fabia 1 mk2??? Do you mean just mk2? And what engine, tuning box's and remaps for most of the engines can be got now and the air filter and exhaust lyk you mentioned. Just about anything can be done if you have big pockets. 1.4tsi can have a hybrid turbo and better coilpacks now aswell as meth/water injection just deped on what you want to do

The 1.2 3 cyl. Fabia 1 is this fabia 2 is a tdi then I think

I'm only 17 see passed my test Monday I am very pleased with my car already got low(ish) profile tires on it.

I can spend a few quid but I have been looking at remapping the engine it's just I cannot find a company that will do it :/

If you could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful :)

tbh mate, in my opinion, it wouldnt be worth getting a remap on an engine like a 1.2 3cyl, even if there is a company that will do it, as for the power you may gain, it won't be worth the money. remaps are only really worth it if you have a big engine, turbo'd engine, or a diesel. turbo diesel cars respond particularly well to a remap. there are people on here who know a lot more about it than i do, but thats my general understanding of it.

i'm 19 myself and spent a lot of money modifying my first car when i was 17 (a 1.4 8v citroen c2) and tbh, i really wish i hadnt, because i could really do with the money now! so by all means enjoy your car and modify it, but, in terms of power, without spending loads you probably won't get much!

hope this helps,

Mike

I wouldn't bother mate. Unless your looking to spend 10k on the engine which is pointless cost you could trade your car in and put 10k towards it and get a Vrs.

At most get an induction kit and cat back exhaust for some noise.

My lad now runs a Fabia Mk II base model one trim with the 1.2HTP 12v (70) engine; seems lively enough to me, mind he started off with a MK I Classic with the first generation HTP 6v (54) motor, so any improvement over that is a definite step up.

As said, not much point in spending anything more than a few quid on the 1.2 3pot N/A engine.

Very little gains to be had, unless you're spending loads, in which case would be cheaper to buy something a lot quicker in the first place.

If you really want to mod, better off starting with something that's more tunable.

Keep it standard and enjoy cheaper motoring while you can.

I'd hate to think what it would cost to insure a 17 year old with 0 NCB on a modified car - It's probably bad enough as it is.

Thanks very much :)

Been a lot of help and yeah I'll save up for a vrs for later on I'll just stick to a bit of styling here and there and a nice exhaust

I'm on garage insurance so there are pretty lenient with the modifications done a few bits and pieces already

Again thanks fir the info been a great help :)

I had a polo with the same engine and traded it in for a vrs as it was too slow.....vrs was only 75quid more to insure

Ohhh an that engine is loud as feck with a cone filter on it

17 and just passed test, now it's time to stay safe so don't try to mod it, just enjoy driving as you get older you can get a faster chariot, however by then the testosterone level will have hopefully gone south ;)

I'll just keep saving my money and buy as vrs later on

I think I'll leave it as it is now done a few bits already

Thanks for giving me the heads up on the cone filter stu :)

Could go down the Lotus route and add lightness. If you don't need rear seat then take them out. They weigh a fair bit. As others have said it's best to resist the temptation of modifying your first cars. I did and in the long run was worth it. Managed to save enough so by the time I was 20 I had enough for a Mk1 Fabia vRS and 3 years later I bought the Fabia vRS estate.

Your in the same boat as me. I,m 19 with mk2 fabia sport and yes they are pretty bad fuel, but there is a few things you could do to make it look better
