service cost

Featured Replies

I was wondering what others in the group pay for an annual service. My local garage have quoted £161 for what is basically an oil change. Is this expensive?

very!

Is this the major 60k service or just a regular one?

I just had my car serviced today at a VAG specialist. regular one, cost was 120 including vat. If i had the smaller engine the price would have been around 100. Maybe that's a bit steep for some people still, but as i haven't got time or mechanical know-how to do it myself and this garage does excellent work with a free loan car for the day as well, I'm not complaining.

Oh and I tacked on a gear oil change... my crunching second gear is finally cured

The not-so-good news was an advisory for worn console bushes and front discs and pads have only a few thousand left in them.

Following on from my first post I decided to shop around for some estimates.

And after a bit of negotiation the price has been reduced to £113 which I find more acceptable.

mikebs, where are you based? worth talking to Ali at unit18.

I've just been quoted £129 by my local Skoda garage for a 'minor service' (5 year old Roomster).

This may be useful from Skoda's website.

It details their 'National Pricing Policy', you should never pay more than £129 for a fixed interval minor service.

Name and shame the dealer trying to charge you £161 for thirty pounds worth of oil and a five pound filter.

Click the 'Maintenance' tab too for common items such as brakes, brake fluid, air con and cambelt requirements.

My Roomster is due first service soon 10,000 miles 1.6 diesel quoted £100.00 inc vat Robert Eardely Crewe hope this helps with comparison

Just had my Fabia 1.2htp 3 cylinder serviced by Skoda main dealer. Negotiated £90. Did a good job. Gave me the rest of the can of door hinge lubricant, a full bottle of screenwash (the rersevoir was full before it went in) and a litre of oil. Can't crib at that compared to above prices but still expensive for what they actually do.
