Im starting to get condensation in my fogs on my monte 18months old with 20k on the clock

Probably seals not fitted properly on the lights. Sure it's a small job under warranty. Sorry it happened

this happend on my vrs and the dealer replaced them under warrenty.

Dealer told me warranty work only on a weekday? whats that all about. Do they get paid from Skoda for warranty work? i bet they do!

Cannot say im impressed with the build quality of this monte cpw my VRS. It feels cheaper e.g. internal door handles and lights.

The fact that a cluster has condensation in a car which has less than 40 miles on the clock sends a shiver down my spine! as minor as it may be it should not happen to a new motor - the seal should be intact and working well?

The fabia does get misty in the headlight, fogs and rears mine did, what I did was seal the rubber seals better in the headlight, fogs and the rear where the cables go in, first get hair dryer and blast the moist air out on a nice day then get the bungs in quick, had very little issue after, it's a lot to do with the fluctuating temps inside and out of the lights

I think this the case for most dealers.

I dont know many car dealers theat open/book saturday work.

I previously worked at a skoda dealer that had no techs on a Saturday.

And even commercial dealers only really do scheduled inspections on a saturday

The dealer i use only does servicing on a saturday morning no warrenty work. I had water in my fog light dealer replaced ok since.

Thanks all for the replies. I do think its strange they dont work on a sat but if thats the norm then so be it.

Ill try the hairdryer option first.

Anyone know how to get into them (im sure its in the manual somewhere) - they are bordered with plastic trim unlike my old VRS which was classic carpet!

cheers all

Problem being most main dealers if they work on saturday will only work till 12 1 at the most.

And doing predictible work on a sat if more efficent for them and the customer.

As for using a hair drier. Worth a crack may providing you dnt tamper move something ot cause heat damage to anything. As should the problem persist and there is viasable tampering skoda may be less incline to pay.

Not had a dealer say this before! (New Skoda, new Toyota) So sounds like your local dealer's own policy. I would question it if I felt the need, and suggest asking Skoda UK if this is correct proceedure!

As for the issue... I recon its bad for such a new vehicle to have this problem. However, I beleive that many manufacturers claim this to be an anomoly more to do with the climate, rather than an actual fault. It is known to happen and indeed, even expected UP TO A DEGREE! I think it is suggested that it clears as the ligts are used, due to the build up of temperature in the units. It may then also return if damp, etc is present but, hey! This happens all the time on your windows and generally, you know it will happen and live with it!

I think Mercedes, among others, attempted to stop this by installing "Double glazing" To the cars windows. Not sure if it worked, was continued or cost too much and was too weighty to be a real benefit!

Warranty work can be done anytime the business is open. As you surgest probley a dealers policy rather uniform across the network.

But as i say ive worked for a dealer that has no techy on say and other dealers that do.

And i say the more productive you can be on sat the better. And the last thing you want to is have to hold a customers car back fro a weekend for not finishing a warranty job on a sat.

So id guess the dealer in question is cautious in getting envloved in warranty on a saturday so they can do more services on a sat.

But i would say some comman sense should be used. As its nit an envolved job to change a light cluster, its not as if you expecting them to identify the issue.

Cant see why they would seems like a seal may of been damaged whilest fittinng which doesnt sound good but easily done

Judging by your dealrs comments, I am surprised he has not said its cos you have been using your "Dipped" Headlights! :wall:

Mne has once. As many have said it can be caused but differing tempretures in side and out side of lamp rather then a fault.

Drl's on vrs do this all the time

At my last trip to the local car washers of eastern europeanness, they gave the car a thorough jet wash.

the front fog/drl housings looked to steam up and I was concerned that the jet washes had "forced" water in. However, by the time I got home they were clear - either it can drain off, or the DRLs burned off the moisture. Now I know it wont have gone if it can't escape, but I haven't seen it since, so is it an issue?

However, yours is rear light cluster (IIRC) and is probably drops of water, rather than what mine appeared to be, a fine fog on a smooth cover. let us know what the dealer says and good luck!
