Dan's GTB1756 Powered Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Dan, i got abit bored and thought i would have a mess and put an old cone filter on the fab just to see the sound but couldnt see how it would fit as the maf is bolted to the air box and doesnt have a diameter to clamp to. Do you have to buy an adaptor plate aswell or is there a way around this?

Haha you got me worried then! The cone is at home don't think I will have enough light to fit it tonight so probably will be tomorrow. :)

That little vaccum pipe on the airbox - will I be ok to leave it unplugged or block it up or something? Don't fancy cutting a hole in the cone for it!

Im not sure about the vac pipe sorry mate. I just put my ash cone on and gave it a run and it sounded the same as my k&n panel :S

I ran without the vac pipe connected for a while and it gave me a weird juddering under 2k for some reason but i dont know if that was the reason. suppose its to do with the pressure box which deals with the turbo so might have something to do with it.

My vac pipes been unplugged for a couple of weeks lol not noticed any difference, it only pulls in the air the vac requires

It won't make any difference having it unplugged.

Did the bolt arrive?

Cheers Phil will leave it un plugged. Not sure on the bolt mate was in work before the postman came and now Im stuck in the missus house as something is wrong with the brakes :(

Bolt has arrived, thanks alot Phil!

Cone is fitted, sounds brilliant, dont notice to much sound change as the exhaust is quite loud on full chat but when your just driving casually and change gear / lift off, it chatters! Not overly loud though, sounds pretty good for a derv. Gets a thumbs up from me :)

Looks great mate. Did you get your brakes sorted ok?

Needs tidying up but I will do that soon :)

Yes mate got them sorted - vaccum pipe was split, need to order a new one from Skoda. As I can see splits in another connection so worth changing.

If its just vacuum hoses could you use some red silicone vacuum tubing?

That's what I was thinking, but unsure. Can anybody clear that up?

Should be fine i have seen it done. Just get enough length and diameter, i was planning on replacing all mine in red at some point.

Great stuff, will be much cheaper than all the Skoda pipes!

Fitted the APs today....

Taped up the threads with some copper grease. 14 threads up on the front and all the way down on the back.

How much does it settle on the rear? as it's still pretty high!

Pretty clear which one is the knackered one...

Also put the facelift lights back in and fitted rear mud flaps. No pics yet as the car is still vile!

Will settle a tad but not much. Front will come down abit after a couple days. I removed my rubber cups from the top of the spring on the rear gained about 10mm lol i might put them back in and remove the adjusters depending how my new wheels fit.

I will just take those blue adjusters out then. Tell you what when I was taking it apart the spring in the FKs had bounced out from the top and was resting against the shock! Don't know how that's happened as I haven't been in the air or anything and it was fine when I fitted the RARB last week :S

That is odd. I dont think i can pull mine out when its all bolted up only when i drop the axle off.

  • Author

Neither could I, had to drop the bolt from the bottom of the shocks so I've got no idea what's happened there.

No wonder I kept hearing a creaking from the rear I put it down to the RARB.

Like so
