Everywhere I go looks like its full of students. I decided thought that it was more due to my age than everyone everywhere actually being a student.

I dunno, this week is when the majority of students' loans come through.

We used to go straight to the bar. Not because we had more sense but the iPod was still a figment of imagination in 1997 let alone the iPhone.

I bought a Pentax MX camera and a motorbike on my grant  my digs were so cheap up in Bolton in the early 80's

My wife has tried to get a nano-sim from T-Mobile today. They say that if they post one out to her, her current SIM will become deactivated at midnight, and could take 2 days to be delivered.

What a load of tripe. She has to go to a shop for instant changeover. Luckily, there is an Orange shop locally that claims to have a T-Mobile in it too...

That's what you get for being with a rubbish network. My nano is sat waiting, when I get my iPhone 5 I just have to text 'swap' to them and it will be transferred. Hope the phone hurries up!!

Went to apple store today at bluewater, everyone was Qing outside, to buy. Went in and checked it out! It's really nice! So much lighter and noticeably thinner! Didnt think it would be so different! feels very nice in hand, quite elegant actually! Gutted I can't get one yet!

Relax give it a couple of months for better contracts. There isn't actually a shortage, just imho stock control.

A 2 week wait web order just turned up today, so i'd think today's orders won't take too long.

not very good stock control though....http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-19677409

I wondered who would beat me to posting that.......

I'm waiting for Orange to send me "my shiny new phone" to quote them......it probably is shiny...and new, but not in my grubby large hands yet.

They tell me they haven't forgotten me......it feels like it, sob, sob....

Considering the guy worked at an o2 shop, he wasn't exactly on the ball, Apple will have a record of those phones serial numbers/identities and they won't be allowed to pass activation.

Isn't there a "shortage" every year time they launch a "new" phone?

As with any new device: you gotta love the beta testers early adopters.

Played with one in store today, it did feel nice in the hand and is certainly a nicer fit in the hand than my galaxy s3, but, it really does feel quite dated now to look at as far as the front end. I don't think I could bring myself to get one now, I think it would almost feel like a downgrade. I'm not hating on it, I'm sure things may be a bit smoother on it, and maybe the menus are better thought out (settings all in one place etc) but playing with one was just so very unexciting! I guess I just prefer the android experience.

Loads of Students too. I guess if students can afford this stuff then the fees are not too high after all.

Like it every year if I go to the Grand Arcade in Cambridge this time of year. They have the airbook, the ipod touch, the ipod nano for running/gym and an iphone under their arms. Yup they lap it up.

Must be nice to have a few grand to spunk on tech...... A vast number will be liberated from their diggs over the next few weeks though as the crooks know this too.

Yay :)za3e3upy.jpgpost-56095-13482674161804_thumb.jpgpost-56095-13482674619332_thumb.jpg

Out with the old in with the new!

Love it :)

To me this is the difference between Android and iPhone, Android are more confusing in menu layout etc and 'geeky' in a way and the iPhone is pretty simple and just seems to work flawlessly.

Before anyone says, no I am not calling all android users a 'geek''.

Not missing you tube or maps?

Couldn't care less about YouTube - it works in browser anyway, and if you still want it you can download it.

Maps; well! The turn-by-turn directions are awesome, and the live traffic/roadworks. But it's just a shame it doesn't seem to be able to get you anywhere you want to go haha

I personally never use them either so although it is a shame that the maps is really poor, I doubt it will have a bearing on my ownership.

The turn by turn navigation on the maps has been awesome so far. In someways prefer it to the Columbus in the car.

The only problem is the age old (me) of the screen not being big enough.

Before all you S3 people talk about big screens, the 6 1/2" Columbus is not big enough for me.

iPad here we come

Has anyone who will not have access to the EE LTE network asked their provider if their iPhone 5 will ever be able to use the LTE service they will provide at a future date? In theory with existing purchases and proposals the iPhone 5 being sold today will never work with Vodafone or O2 LTE. Not an issue if you won't be using it after 24 months but just something else to think about.

Read a few posts and my god, I never realised there was so many people bothered by what others spent their own hard earnt money on!

I use to be a bit of a phone whore, changed them every few months really. Then I got a iPhone 3G and changed once a year 3G > 3G s > 4 > 4s and my 5 is on its way. I have tried a few different androids which I didnt really enjoy. As nice as the Samsungs screen is it still felt a bit cheap compared to my iPhone. The Mrs is the same, likes how straight forwards everything is with them, she isnt too fussed that its the latest model so she has my old one and we flog her old one each time. I get the gangsta new one to flash about. :sun: So this time she`ll gain my old 4s and we`ll flog her old 4, which is still worth a reasonable chunk of cash even 2 years old.

Most important of all, we both work, we both earn so we spend out money on whatever we like. Personal choice, like cars, houses, clothes, people going to start slating others for wearing Levi jeans next?

Anyone scratched the back yet? Loads have. :giggle:

Yep - this is causing a bit of havoc globally. They have released 3 different models to try and be compatible with all the different bands. It's like before quad band phones came out (about 10 years ago) and your phone would never work on a different continent! We are back to that again! Luckily I'm just not that bothered anymore...

No but I hear they dont like being dropped unlike the 4S. Heard someone at a site saying another worker had just dropped their phone outside, smashed the screen and no insurance.
