Welcome to the site.

10k has to be a consideration for petrol?

Not done the sums recently, but it used to be in the realms of 30k a year in diesel to make it worth while. That covers the premium of the diesel fuel and engine.

There is a study knocking about on the internet showing that small engines though are not as good overall as larger ones. Although I think it was comparing 1.2 petrols to 1.9 diesels.... I've not driven a 1.2, so you know whats coming ;)

Get out to a local retailer and try them, ideally on the route close to or that you do use. I'd say an average forecourt has a good number of 12->24 mth old cars, a good time to try ;)

1.2 tsi all the way (and I used to have a 2.0 pd octavia). Tsi feels like a bigger engine than it is.

Hi and welcome aboard.

That is more or less what we do and we went for petrol which has been brilliant.
