  • The fact he didn't offer to take it back is ridiculous. He done the work and didn't leave it right. Then they are completely responsible. IMO

  • What a ****. Tbh I doubted his work as soon as he slated the map at the beginning of the thread. Adam

  • He needs to put that right. You can't spend nearly 3K on a duff job. If he doesn't do it, get Trading Standards involved. There are people waiting to receive calls from people like you. AND garages fe

That bloke sounds like a right mug. I'd be contacting trading standards.

As mentioned before contact trading standards, and go on as many car forums you possibly can and mention the situation.

You would expect far better customer care than you have experienced.

Don't take this the wrong way but I wouldn't have used them personally, they are used to working on French dervs

who supplied/sourced the engine they fitted? any warranty on that?

I'd be back there with the car demanding they fixed it or even better get my money back and get someone competent to fix it, I'd definitely take them to the cleaners or pay them a personal visit for a "chat"

Reading through the posts i was still waitin for someone to point out the engine being at fault. If they didnt supply the engine then it isnt there fault as such.

If you supplied them with a broken engine and you paid them to fit it, its not there problem.

However most garages i know, including the one i work in, would take the car in and get it looked over. A quick coolant pressure test shouldnt be a problem. they could have damaged the radiator fitting the new engine if it wasnt removed before hand.

Not defending anyone just giving my own thoughts, hope you get it sorted.

Get down to the CAB. Know your rights. I've got a chum who had similar on his Accord 2.2D (fault and poor service). Its only just about right 2 engines and a few ears later. In the meantime he has had to buy a Fabia!

Even if they didn't supply the engine, you would still provide some sort of service after care???? they fittied it, fitted other stuff and mapped it? No reason to be a **** about it.

Oh well, I wont be buying a Doctor Dump Valve now

Oh no, dont get me wrong... Like i said in my other post, a few pressure checks should be easy enough. Visual inspecting around the engine bay with all the plastic out the way. Wouldnt hurt to have it on a ramp at the same time and check under for water drops or moisture.

In my experience aftercare usually means free labour but the customer still pays for any parts that are needed.

Pretty sure he would have supplied the engine going by the bill.

The Engine is from Darkside Developments. Good lads. It has got a 3 month warranty, he's already said he will sort out a new engine if this one is kaput. Problem is i obviously need to get this engine out and get it stripped so it's as it came to me, them go get the new mill, then get it built up and fitted again, and that's more money, after I've just spent best part of 3k! Which obv I don't wana do lol. I just do not know what to do. This ****s makin me ill

Dont worry to much just yet.

You have warranty on the engine so thats good!

fitting a new engine if its the same should only be around £400.

But we dont even know if the engines damaged yet! the water level could be up and down because of an air lock or somthing. Could also still have a leak somewhere?

If i was in your position i'd take the car back to them and ask them to give the car a look over and check everything. you should be keeping a close eye on the oil and water levels every time you use the car for the next week or so. Keep topping them up if needed. If the water is still going down you might have a problem.

Plenty of threads about water going down and leaving no visable signs of a leak.

If the Engine is faulty, should Darkside Developments not cover the bill of the labour costs for replacing it? why should you pay it if they sent out a faulty one?? (not saying it is)!!! if it is a faulty engine cant you get it to Darkside to replace it all under warranty.

What a shame, shocking services and customer care from the sounds of it.

From experience, the forum sponsors on here provide exceptional services and look after their customers (my experience mainly comes from Unit 18 and Shark Performance, though I am sure many others would look after you.

Best of luck finally getting it sorted, you must be livid.

I wouldnt trust some of the sponsor's on here either, not to say all of them but there are one or two that are full of s***. Theres not many genuine companys out there that actually offer after sales care. In my experience after £1500 spent at Awesome Gti i can tell you i wont be going there again, and wouldnt recommend anyone using them. They've totally f***** the car up and now wont accept any liability. Sounds like a similar situation. Shame really. I hope you get it sorted mate. Have you had the car scanned on VAG com? Maybe a fault code is stored?

As most of you will probs know, my turbo blew up few weeks back and fooked my engine

Had a brand new garret blower with a second hand engine too

Car is running good and new map feels sweet

Only problem is is its drinking water like dutch hookers drink sperm

Every 15 miles or so the light comes and the coolant needs filling back up

Obviously this isnt right and i want to get it sorted

Any ideas?

If it needs topped up this quickly then a leak would be obvious, if the oil level has went high up the dip stick then it's looking like head gasket problems.

I wouldn't dream of using Awesome for anything other than parts either, I've heard far too many horror stories and responses of denial from them. The site sponsors I mentioned- again I'm sure there are others- I would not hesitate to trust fully with my car any day of the week. Good businesses and good customer service are available. It seems unfortunately apparent that the one the OP used is not one of them.

Is the carpet under the dash dry?

After a hard drive, is the coolant/bottle cap hissing?

Does the coolant level fall after you switch off and leave it to stand?

Is there black slime in the coolant?

Has the dipstick level increased?

And check the water pump...

Take the cap off the reservoir and raise the rpm to about 2500 rpm. If the pump is OK you will see a steady stream of coolant flowing out of the return pipe back into the reservoir

Is the carpet under the dash dry? SORRY NOT TOO SURE WHAT YOU MEAN

After a hard drive, is the coolant/bottle cap hissing? YES, BUBBLING UP LIKE MAD, CAN ALSO HEAR IT FROM THE BLOCK A LITTLE BIT

Does the coolant level fall after you switch off and leave it to stand? NOT REALLY HAD CHANCE TO CHECK YET

Is there black slime in the coolant? CANT SEE ANY PAL

Has the dipstick level increased? NOT NOTICED IT MATEY NO

Could be pressurising the cooling system due to head gasket or possible cracked head, I did read earlier it had overheated into the red.

The carpet in the footwells can get damp if the heater matrix is leaking

Is the noise more of a hiss or does it sound like a kettle boiling?

If theres pressure in the coolant bottle, that would be signs of an airlock, low coolant or the dreaded head gasket. As said could be a crack in the head etc.

If your temp gauge has went into the red then that could have done the damage to the engine.

Had a coolant pressure test today and that looked okay

Then had a test for head gasket and it looks like its that

Spoke with Ryan at darkside developments and hes going to hook me up with a very good cut price for removal of old engine, swap everything over and refit new one

Hes been a massive help there

Good to know that are are decent people working in decent garages out there

Last time i go to 'derv doctor' anyhow

Why do you have to pay out more cash? shouldnt the faulty engine have some form of warranty?
