Anyone after the 15" black alloys ?

Featured Replies

I had mine powder coated for £60 each.

Not the best angle, but the only shot I could get with all the car in.

Should have it's stripes in the next few days. :)

Have to say the black wheels look nice, but it makes the rear brake drums look bad.

The powder coating is definately the way to go - they look very good indeed

I'll get the spary can ready for the drums :giggle:

Can I powder coat my wheel trims?

No, they are plastic and it'll peel off as they flex. (and over time)

Uou can probably paint them with something that flexes, like bumpers do?

Plasti Kote paint would prob work on on wheel trims - Google it, loads of colours

Wheels look superb. Did they come with the car or are they dealer fit?

The black alloys are a dealer fit option, but...

I bought another Citygo that had 15 inch rims and they are not needed, so I took them off and had them powder coated gloss black. Not sure exactly how they compare to the stock black rims.

The problem currently with the white and black rims is they are an extra, not an upgrade, so you pay for a complete set of additional wheels and end up with a spare set of normal alloys with no tyres...

BossFox - given you're in Essex like me, mind if I ask where you got the rims powder coated?

Cheers

There's loads of cheap black wheeltrims on eBay. I wouldn't bother trying to paint the ones one the car

Lepsons in Gillingham, Kent.

The best wheel people I've come across.

One of the few places the GT-R boys use for thier huge rims.

It cost me £60 per rim (+VAT) which seemed OK to remove the tyres, powder coat and refit the tyres. Considering the rims alone in black are over £150 each.

Plus as I said, I'm not sure the Skoda version is quite so shiny. :) Would be interesting to see the difference.

Wow, was only kidding about powdercoating wheel trims. But good option , the plasticote stuff.

Really wanted alloys but couldnt justify the extra cash as is mostly going to work car only. Wish I had now, cracking little car!!

How the black alloys look with the stripe kit.

Like it!

Prior to the stripes going on both me and Richard had our reservations on the stripes - would they look to chavvy/boy racer?!

But I will say that the pictures don't do this justice, in the metal the car looks fantastic, along with the black wheels (I think Lepsons might get inundated now) and sunset glass it finishes the car off nicely.

Im not trying to be a spoilsport but,the painted wheels might be classed as a 'modification' by your insurers ?.The 'go faster stripes' as well?.

Alex Lawrie have the same car on their fore court with the wheels etc and does look quite smart I must admit,(Im almost tempted).

As long as you tell the insurers, it's not a problem.

Made no difference on our quote.

Seems to be a grey area-some insurers says its a modification some say 'no problem'.

its a factory fit , all factory options.... all skoda supplied and fitted at build point, how can this affect insurance? (obviously stated when asked about factory fit options) made no difference to our insurance either....

edit: and you're right, really ups the look too ;) takes away that "basic" look :)
