REVO for 1.6 CRDi......Who's had it?

Featured Replies

Whoa! So do they offer that at 2 prices? So I buy the 105 and "only" get 25bhp increase, or could have spent less on the 75 and got nearly double my power!!

That could be a cheap work around...if I only I'd thought of that.

Saw another site offering an increase to 148bhp - HECO I think it was. Normally tune Volvos.

So this is basically proving that the 75 is the same mechanically, just mapped to a lower output at the factory?

Reminds me of the Ibiza versions: FR (150hp) and Cupra (180 hp) which when I read that they were both stage 1 mapped to around 205-210 hp, thought "that must have hurt the Cupra owners...".

The mk1 Octy 1.8T 150 and 180 vRS was the same, but then the vRS got other stuff too, like bigger brakes for a start.

Perhaps the higher power Fabia is similar?

I see. But I don't think that's the case with the current Fabia as there is not another 1.4 petrol engine except the 180 bhp one in the vRS.

If you hold out for a bit APR are currently working on the 1.6TDi mapping, and knowing them if you have cruise control you will benefit from cruise switching!

Even for you other guys with the 1.4TSI engines the APR has some great features with cruise switching! :D such as:

  • Program Switching Enables you to swap between two or more engine programs using the cruise control stalk. All cars have stock and standard chipped program versions available. Valet, race-gas, and other specialty programs are available for most models.
  • Fault Code Erase/Throttle Body Alignment (FCE/TBA) Fault Code Erase allows you to erase and reset engine related trouble codes without having to use a specialty tool. Throttle Body Alignment allows you to manually perform throttle-body adaptation.
  • Security Lockout Prevents unauthorized personnel from accessing EMCS functions. The user may select any 2 to 4 digit security code. The security code is entered using the cruise control buttons.
  • Anti-Theft You can render your car immobile to thieves, even if there is an attempt to start the car with your own key! For more information about Anti-Theft

If you don't have cruise we can fit that too for an extra fee :D

I had the ECU read on my 1.6 105 monte a couple of weeks ago, just waiting for the map from revo so hopefully be on in a couple of weeks

It's HEICO Tuning, but I can't find any mention of them tuning VAG engines.

Think it will probably be the same with the Fabia. The lower powered engines get smaller brakes and usually rear drum brakes then the higher powered engines get bigger brakes and rear disc brakes.

The 75 might map the same as the 105 but would you trust the brakes etc to cope as well!?

Should make a nice increase no matter what and similar figures to the MK1 Fabia vRS but with, no doubt, smoother delivery.

So is there any approximate lead time on the APR side of things Mike?

At the moment nothing set in stone time wise... All I have been told is that it will be happening... Fingers crossed sooner than later :D

I would imagine that the power hike for the 75bhp engine will be impossible to get mainstream insurance for. Most companies limit engine tuning modifications to 25%.

For interest, I have overlaid the Superchips before and after power and torque curves onto the before and after curves for the Revo 1.6 CR Tdi map.

Key:

solid red - Revo uprated power 1.6 CR TDi

dashed red - Stock power 1.6 CR TDi

solid black - Revo uprated Torque 1.6 CR TDi

dashed black - Stock torque 1.6 CR TDi

Solid Blue - Superchips remapped PD130

Solid grey - Stock PD130

The remapped 1.6 CR engine is getting quite close to the fiqures for the old PD130 engine. As you can see, the Revo remap torque figure is still slighlty down 217lbft (294Nm) compared to 337Nm or -14.6%. However, as expected for the CR engine max torque persists over a wider range than the PD engine.

If this is a reliable map it could make the Monte Carlo a proper succesor to the Mk1 VRS.
