Dual remap

Featured Replies

Does anybody no of anywhere that will do two remaps which can be changeable by a push button inside the car??

Thanks in advance

Steve

Shark sts unit... Not exactly sure how it work (as in changing the map) but that's what you need!

I had a tuning box with 7 settings and a remote control to change it

Problem was it was shoite

APR used to do a remap that could be switched by using the cruise control stalk.

Revo have the SPS unit that allows you to alter the current map settings.

Shark STS will allow you to switch between standard and remap, however it takes around 30 mins to switch between the two as the ECU is flashed in full each time.

One good map > two **** ones lol. Why you want two?

normal, proper map and a valet mode?

Jabbasport looked into this a while ago, and posted a demo video on YouTube of it actually switching "live" on the fly while driving. Dunno if it ever got ready for release though, it was on either a staff member's car or a development car, I forget the details.

Yes it's possible. The ones I've seen requires two EEPROM chips. However can't really see the point of going that far. Better just using the second data block to store a second map. Then if need changing use vcds to switch engine block codes.

Hummmm, why though? I love my car with its proper map, why would I want to put the ****ty stock one on? Or any other :bandit:

well, the clue is kind of in the name, it's not for when you drive it - you drop it off at a garage or with the valet all mapped up, they move it and notice it's got a bit of poke, it gets taken out and the absolute granny smashed out of it?

My car doesnt tend to be driven when cleaned though? Makes it a bit difficult I should imagine, could need a mega long hose lol. As for the garage, well they built it so I wouldnt have an issue with them having all the power it can make, I should think a reduced map is going to make life hard work for them to diagnose some faults too? If I trust them to work on it I think I can trust them to drive it. Seems like a ballache for no real gain? The only time I could seriously see it being useful is for airport car parks, but then I wouldnt let them near my car mapped or unmapped tbh.

valet parking. valet mode is legit, saying it's pointless because you wouldn't make use of it is the same as someone else saying mapping a car at all is pointless because it's fast enough and economical enough for them in standard trim.

I think it`s maybe that I`m more protective of my car/have some common sense. If I didnt trust someone to drive my car without smashing the **** out of it, then I wouldnt be letting them drive it at all, "valet map" or not. If I cant trust them not to smash it then I would park it myself. Much easier and less worrying than handing my keys over to randomers.

Have to agree with you Matt, I just have the one map and only stick with same people I trust to work on it. I use the same guy to valet my car and he also comes to mine to do it on my drive. So that works for me.

Whether it has a faster map or not, if a person working on your car wants to rape the arse off it, he/she will do it any way no mater what!

You have to ask your self this question. Why im i taking it to the person in the first place if I dont trust them with handling my car with respect.

Mine only takes about three mins to flash with the sts

Yeah I recently enabled the immobiliser mode, and flashing that and back to the performance map took no more than 5 minutes each time.

This was the thread about it. http://www.briskoda....-vrs-pd130-etc/

The vid is on post #6. It would be nice if it was released. It would be like a 'Sport' button that some cars have.

we have a mutual friend that has driven both of our cars. like a **** :D

 Oh yeah, one of a very selective group of people who can drive my car as they wish without me worrying about it. "valet mode" certainly not needed in his case lol

If you ask really nicely they might just do it ;)

I can flick between two maps thanks to JABBA.

Re: Why. Normally I would agree with all you folks, I want a fast map, the fastest map full stop all the time.

However when running meth and nitrous, it comes in happy to have two.... aka one for all that, and then one without that so it doesnt smoke it tits off for no reason.

Need to get rid of the standard downpipe, new exhaust and sort out the custom intake, drop a bigger nozzle on for the nirous and set up the controller then back down to Jabba for mapping. The nitrous on a small jet with no controller just spiked the fuk out of the torque and peaked at 600Nm (480lb.ft in real talk!)

I am hoping, and its only hoping that with the above changes I can see a nice torque curve that actually flat lines across most of the rev range by using the nitrous to keep it going. I'd love to see 250bhp+ peak and a steady 400lbft+ across 2,500rpm. But its just a hope. No idea if it can be done wth the turbo and my set up. But lets find out :D

The reason I want two different maps is one purely for power and the other for mpg! Just wondered if it was possible for a switch insid the car to change between the two

Yes then. I have a switch inside my car.

Thats a situation when I could see it being beneficial/useful. Like the sound of the plans, keep us updated!

I`d take and educated guess that the best map for economy is a really smooth one, which coincidently is also the best map for a quick car too! You can adjust the mpg by how heavy your right foot is.

Proper Economy tuning is difficult, and involves and indepth knowledge of the injection cycle. Efficiency is the answer, and timing is essential.

I personally think a good economy tune and being able to switch to a performance focused map on the fly would be very beneficial. I never had the time to tackle this as a project, but there's a few ways of achieving this ( ECU dependent).
