DNS servers?

Featured Replies

I was on the net a few weeks back and was reading about netflicks US being better than the UK version so thought id try it by using the free trial on unblockme.com. There were quite a lot of content that the UK version doesn't have, unfortunately the trial has now ended and I doubled checked using the search function on netflicks and its true that the US version definitely has more stuff.

Is there a free DNS server out there

Not a DNS server you need.

You can use either a proxy or VPN to teleport your PC into the US :)

My mistake lol.

Is there any free easy ways to do it?

I'd also avoid using a free vpn on the whole they are pants, i have a US based VPN i use and i can drop off in various cities, i use it for Hulu, never have any issues with streaming costs me about £4 a month

Don't want to spend any more, just need it for netflicks as that's what I watch on a night with Swmbo.

The issue is what a VPN is basically doing is relaying your net connection elsewhere and that costs money for the server you are connecting through to do it. While there are free ones they are often vastly overloaded/unreliable also you have to remember that you are effectively routing all your net traffic for that session through their box so i prefer to go with a commercial entity that you are more likely to be able to trust than some random guy who has set it up to be nice / nefarious purposes.

There was a thread a few days ago on here, saying that if you used I guess some public DNS servers which were based in America for Netflix then you could access american content......

As above, I would have though that content would have been based on the geo-data of your public facing IP address, which is why a VPN terminating in America would have the desired results.....
