Apple IOS6 Maps - What a joke

Featured Replies

A pal of mine has just updated to IOS6. His journey home from central Milton Keynes to Church Rd, Luton is now 200 miles and will take 3 hours :D

I found this on the internet http://theamazingios6maps.tumblr.com/

Yeah, it's totally PANTS, Google Maps was MUCH better.

All I get locally are blurry & fuzzy images, no good to me whatsoever. :(

I used Google maps for the first time yesterday to get to my mum's friends house. Was great and the icing on the cake was when I got there it showed me a pic of the house from the road! Was gonna save up for a tomtom but not gonna bother now lol

It's OK. They won't be able to find me :)

Not with IOS6 maps which thinks Luton is in Devon.

I had a play with iOS6 Maps earlier, and whilst I agree it is currently pretty pants, as far too much of the country is just a blur, find somewhere that is clear (I used London as an example) and it is pretty impressive of what it will be able to do...... eventually, personally it seems like it has been rushed through when in reality it need MUCH more doing to it before it should of been released.

Also pretty crap TBH, the 'village' where I live is not even on the map and the satellite view is almost non existent there also.

This, while its a bit comical at the moment and good for some lulz it wont be long before Apple sort it. :) (No, dont own an iPhone)

Not too long ago, you had to search very hard to find a map of distant places.

The map was made from paper and foldable, and searching was going to shops not sitting on your bum buying stuff online. :whew:

Those paper maps could also have their faults.

My 2 cts, just wait and everything will be fine. Always easy to accuse otherones faults :hi:

This is what I get for Brighton Pier on Apple Maps................

And another photo showing what the quality is like in central London.............

Looks like it will be quite impressive once its finished.

I don't understand why they bothered. Google maps worked fine (and still does because I didn't upgrade :) )

I like how google colours the roads correctly; motorways are blue, A-roads are green.

I'm definitely not going to bother with iOS 6 unless it improves dramatically

The old google maps didn't do navigation but to be honest I didn't use them, neither do I use the new maps, instead I use nav free for navigation. It's brilliant.

Nav free user here too. I don't see the point of navigation software which downloads it data on the fly.

The reason they didn't stick with Google is essentially because Apple requested that they could have the turn by turn directions and Google said no, so Apple went and created their own. Yes at the moment there are teething problems, but what many people seem to have forgotten is just how long Google have spent refining their maps. It's the problem with it being new, and also with the society we're in now where we naturally expect something new to just work. Sadly, with the mapping and such, it isn't always the case. As Chronicbint said, when finished I reckon they'll be onto a winner. I tried it out today in it's current state, and it's definitely a lot better than other navs I've used, but obviously it's going to need refining :)

iPhone is the best phone end of, the reason the rest are nearly as good, they just stole the tech lol

Goblin 100% on the money th apple maps will surpass the google maps( eventually :) )

Not sure what the fuss is really, hardly ever use google maps and Waze is a brilliant free turn by turn gps.

Oh go on the will respond to the trolling.........they all steal from each other, seen the majority of Apple features on other phones before Apple did them. :)
