Hi

i need help with my car key, the car key was not

properly, so i change the battery, and after the change the key is not work.

then i thought i reprogram it.

but this not work

1. Switch Ignition ON and leave the key in the ignition.

2. Mechanically lock the vehicle using the Drivers door using a second key.

3. Using the remote control press the Unlock button once, and the horn will sound once.

4. Wait 6 seconds and press the unlock button once to activate the coding procedure. The remote control will now be programmed.

Note:

my left dorr is not in function because not change of the electric windows wasnt work therefore it have to my change it. and the electric windows is in workshop and the dorr thing is open.

Can this be a problem that i cant reprogram the key?

Follow this video for the Mk4 Golf, its the same for the Octavia

1. with window open and door unlocked, put the original key in the ignition and turn it to position one (warning lights on but engine off)

2. put the new key in the door and lock it

3. take the new key out then hold down the unlock button on the remote until it blips

4. unlock the door with the new key, then you're ready to go - try unlocking and locking a few times with the remote to make sure it works

If that doesn't do it then you will need to take it to a dealer, there could be a problem with the transponder in the key.

The blip bit only works on cars with factory fitted alarms

If not then the side repeaters will just flash

That doesn't sound at all like a skoda fob, sounds like you have an aftermarket alarm such as a clifford etc

Interesting topic.

Have I got this right? If I buy a new key I am able to programme it using the car not a dealer. No doubt saving a few quid. Where do you get an origial key from & cut for sensible money & will it work with the immobiliser?

Alex

Nope the fob it's self will work if it's a mk4 golf type one. The immobilizer chip needs either to be a new one or your old one, a lot of places cut the blank.

I got the correct 3 button fob off a mk4 golf and fitted my blade and immobilizer chip into it and programmed it using the key method

Anyone reccomend a supplier for a new key & body. Mine has got a missing ring hoop. Do the bodies come with chips inside.

Cheers.

Alex

EBay for a new body golf 4 one's fit. Just transfer the internals, chip and key blade over being very careful with the chip which is looks like a grain of rice

Dumb question but how do you get into it? Can't see a screw head.

Alex

The screw is under the skoda badge
