Liverpool to Paris - one Skoda Yeti, one tank of fuel

Featured Replies

YouTube vid of Motor Torque driving from Liverpool to the Paris Motorshow in a yeti greenline (I'm assuming diesel) on 1 tank.
Which is about 500 miles.
We managed to drive 400 miles down to Devon in our 110 TDi on 1 tank also, averaging 51mpg, 2 adults, 3 kids, 2 dogs, filled to the rafters + roof bag. Pretty good I would say.

Hmm. 500 miles doesn't seem much of a stretch for a tankful. I tend to full up when it touches the red (with 80 miles or so left) and it's normally done 420+ miles by then. That's with a TDI 170 that has averaged 40mpg since new (June). A 50mpg average should do 600+ from a tankful and I'd expect the Greenline to exceed that. Is your TDI 110 a 2 or 4WD?

Best mpg I've had was the run back from the Yorkshire meet in Rishworth last weekend. 50 miles on M62/M1/A1 and nearly 57mpg on the maxidot (probably around 52 actual). It was lower at 49mpg on the way there as I detoured to explore some of the country lanes and single track roads around Scammonden Water.

"Been on the road for about an hour, done about 110 miles in pretty bad weather conditions...."

Rather fast for the conditions, 110 mph in bad weather

nothing to say about illegal speeds either.....that must be about flat out for a greenline, (which is diesel, and BigHusky has a 2wd? CR110)

500.....pah!!

I've done that several times since I've had Dewi, without the light coming on. Best has been 544!!

@110mph.......

Good but....

I did better :p

I managed to get 480 to 500 miles on a tank full in the 1.2 TSI, but that does mean sticking to 65 mph. The best (I know not accurate) computer range I have seen was 560 miles :o

Yes 2 wheel drive here

Ive done 500 from a tank and achieved over 50mpg (fill to fill calculated) and mines a 1.8TSi so comparatively not that impressed tbh. Although I do stick to 65mph when I need the best economy from the car. (Now awaits the doubters)

Not overly impressive.

We drove from York across to Germany via the Eurotunnel on less than a tank the other week. That was with 2 adults, 2 folding bikes and A LOT of camping gear.

In a Yeti? If so, which model? :)

I usually get between 500 and 520 to a tank in my 170CR 4x4.

500 in a Greenline doesn't seem that good, when the best ours did was over 600.

Ooops.

Sorry. Not in a Yeti.

Is 500 miles impressive for a Yeti then?

Obviously not, from reading ALL this thread!!

Yes, comparatively Id say so as Im guessing the car you travelled in wasnt as high and as brick shaped? Above 80mph, the Yeti's shape really hinders economy imo.

No one has actually stated that their 500 miles on one tank was done at 110mph in poor weather, THAT is the story...

Hope you filled up in France - diesel is less than 1.40 Euros per litre and at at exchange rate of Euros 1.25 to £1 - just work out how much more expensive it is in the UK.

I regularly get much more than 500 miles per tank - 650 is normal and 45+ mpg driving back to the UK from SW France using the Autoroutes, (130kph speed limit in the dry) - which I do quite often - the downside if you are in a hurry are Autoroute tolls - maybe Euros 50 + from Bordeaux to Calais ........ so if you regular use the mway diesel needs to be cheaper.

140bhp 4x4 Ambition- (mid spec model)

Ah well then. Fair do's. Pretty good.

We used cruise at 70mph in UK, 130kph in france and Belgium then as fast as conditions allowed in Germany (top speed of 128mph gps).

he never said that? "about an hour and 110 miles " not 110mph, was used in the first part of the vid - Lpool to TunnelI very much doubt that he averaged 110mph Liverpool to Paris in a standard Yeti - and if he did, which I do not believe he could, the 500 miles on a standard tank would not be possible

If I sit at 110,120,130mph... my economy will nose dive as would be expected. Autobahn stuff really pulls the tank total and mpg down. If the 1.6 Greenline could do 500 miles with lots of high speed spats then thats impressive. :)

When they stopped at the services, they said, "Been on the road for about an hour, done about 110 miles in pretty bad weather conditions", so i guess only the first hour was definitely done at 110mph... After that, maybe they became much more economical to make up for it....

The most distance I ever managed to cover in a hour was 123 miles. Sat with my foot flat to the floor with a slight boost leak and the car refused to do over an indicated 128mph with 4 adults in.

They must have slowed down after that initial hour to get that mileage out of the Yeti.

What are the revs like at 70/80 MPH in the greenline Yeti? I'm guessing it will be pretty high geared?

Phil

I get mostly about 850-900 km's (528-559 Miles) per tank..mixed driving. (Yeti 140 4x4). If there is the slightest of winds during that given period of driving the figure is more 800 kms.

The most I've ever done on one tank is 970 kms (602 Miles) and still had little fuel left in the tank. I am sure I could have easily got 1000 kms.

Given the shape of the Yeti I am happy with the figures. I never look at the Yeti computer (its rubbish) and always buy supermarket fuel.

My only problem is I don't know what size fuel tank I have on my Yeti. I think its 60 Litres... but I have never (even after running it low) put more that 54 litres of fuel in the tank. ?????
