Diesel Vrs dsg?

Featured Replies

Hello

Looking to get a diesel vrs DSG soonish. Anything to look out for (good and bad)? Want to make sure I find a good one.

Kev

If it's second hand then make sure you give it a good test drive. Another topic on here is about someone who has picked one up and the DSG is faulty which is giving a less than smooth ride. I've had my new vRS DSG diesel for just under 3 weeks and absolutely love it. They are fantastic cars and I'm sure you'l love it too!

+1, had mine 20 months and love it. Only thing I've had is that it's stalled once when shifting from reverese to drive and setting off promptly from a parking space, this was the initial set off so the car and box were cold and, as I say it's only done it once so I really didn't give it much thought and put it down to user error :)

DSG here for 6 months on a VRS, great and will have another DSG on my next car.

I have the petrol DSG. Best 'box in any car I have owned. I did have an E46 M3 a few years back with SMG. I think DSG is in a different league! (although I haven't truer BMW's newer D-CT)

Another +1 here, had my diesel vRS DSG a couple weeks and love it.

I have one, (apart from a similar stalling incident earlier this afternoon - shifting from reverse to drive a tad quickly - like alkip) I absolutely love it!

The DSG is Fantastic but the best box in the car was the wife before we got married :giggle:

Now thats a different Thread.

That thread quickly descended to the gutter

And in a vain attempt to get back on topic :giggle: I've had my Diesel VRS for just over a year and I love it. Only done about 8k so far.

Cheers

not keen on mine, when going down hill it holds in 3rd or 4 th so have to change down with paddles, not quick response when setting off

should be a 7th gear,,,,,,

next car will be a manual....on the other hand my truck volvo xl gobetrotter artic....auto....love it

I love mine, DSG is the dogs dangles!

Only complaint if I was to be honest is with the heavy standard alloys it doesn't like doing 30 around town, auto mode knocks it in to 5th and it's not a smooth drive (jerky). However since the TD's being on its totally changed the car.

Would buy another DSG again for sure.

30 years? You must tell me your secret! ????

 I've had mine since April, now SWMBO is a Skoda widow. She moans that I wasn't this anal about the Mondeo??? But then "that" didn't have the slick moves of a DSG gearbox

Got to agree. I'm coming up to a month of owning mine and my wife loves the DSG gearbox, as do I. It is so smooth (if you drive it right) although the only time I've felt it shunt a bit is moving from D to R and then pressing the accelerator (probably a bit too hard!).

18K and driven as it should be - no issues (touch wood) and love it to bits. Shame about the build quality of the interior (rattles like an old bus) and paint flaking off bumper............

35k.

Aside from one reset at about 5k, it's been exemplary.

Do all DSG's come with flappy paddle gear change?

depends on the model.

in a vRS, yes.

Had my CR DSG vRS for 2 1/2 years and 70K, never had any problems with it (apart from a door seal under warranty and a mistake during a service causing a breakdown) although I'm sure the gearbox wasn't as smooth from a standing start when I traded her in compared to when I first picked her up... Cracking car though and was sorry to see her go even if I was putting £300 worth of tyres on the front wheels every 6 months...

Miss the oomph now I'm in my "econobox" car that isn't actually that much more economical on a run... Having said that, I'll be doing a lot more town driving now and the economy there is in a different league :-)
