The screws don't quite line up :(

Am I right in thinking I need to cut that little flap off in this pic....

That little flappy thing is actually the bottom of the stock arch liner/mud guard. It looks like your problem is that the new one is too wide for the space.

I had to do very little to get my OEM ones to fit. They're shaped as well, which makes your "flap" thingy odd... In that I had no issues with it.

<tsk> clean the car before posting piccies. I once hadn't hoovered my interior and caught hell for dust, leaves and grit!

What make/model are the new ones?

The holes are exactly in the same place, it's just as though that little flap is stopping the mudflaps from sitting tight to the holes

The new ones are off a 2004 Skoda Fabia. They are deffo for the front which is why I bought them. That little flap is really surplus to requirements with the mudflaps so wouldn't do any harm if it was cut off I don't think.

They are moulded to the exact shape but that little flap just gets in the way. If I hold it away and up then the holes line up fine.

My car gets used on some ****ty roads daily. It's winter time now so can't help it being dirty :(

IMO it should just fit then.

<Wanders off to look at his own wheelarch...>

Yeah, the flaps should just fit. They're shaped around that flap thingy.

I'll try again in a bit. Maybe it takes some persuasion. I just held them up to one anther to see what was what.

Thanks for the help :)

Either of you got a part # or link for the front mud flaps? I really could do with a set myself....

Front flaps fit spot on. The rears need heating up to mould around the vrs lip on the bumper. Or trim the lip off on the bumper.

I haven't had a chance to fit them yet. I'll have a go tomorrow evening after work :)

  • 7 months later...

Does the wheel need removed for fitting these or can it be done with it in place. Got some of these yday and might fit them in work today :)

On full lock you can just about do it with the wheel in place. Put gloves on though as you'll scratch your hands to bits on whatever the wheels have picked up

Cheers!

Does the metal clip just compress and push in between the plastic flap and the wheel arch to hold the top of the flap in place?

Seems a lot of people have issues with this

Yeah, just pinches up.

Really is quite simple once you have done a few hundred lol

Sounds straight forward but I don't expect it to be as easy as it sounds, never is :D

Easier with wheel on or off Ross?

On a day like today - Wheel on. I took mine off because it was dirty.

I always left the wheel on front and rear. About 10mins for a full set but then like I say, done hundreds over the years.

Ok thanks guys, will let you know if I've any issues lol :D

One more thing, is it best to put the clip into place then attach the flap or attach the clip to the flap and then put it all together?

Ok this is what I have, when I press the Clip home it slowly wiggles its way out again? Lol I put some Vaseline on to help it slide on which is maybe helping it slide off?

I've wrapped the wee rubber flap in behind the arch, seems like the right thing to do? How far should the clip press in?

Thanks

Ok what happened was the teeth on the plastic clip had worn out so I cut the plastic flapped off and jammed it in from behind, fits better than the other 'correct' side haha :D all sorted now :)
