Help - boost pressure problems

Featured Replies

What values are people seeing remapped and standard on standard turbo?

Using vcsd lite?

Think I may have a problem.

Mine is seeing 2988mbar @ around 2500rpm actual intake pressure from vscd lite channel 11 in 3rd gear.

Have been told this is far too high what could the be the problem? and where should i look I have an EGR delete and remap but thats it.

Cheers

1.35bar standard. I say up to 1.55bar mapped in the mid range, around 1.45bar at 4k.

Your actually maxing out your map sensor so turbo boost is probably higher. Hope your hot funds for a new turbo as it won't last long running that boost. :(

Sorry double post

is that including the ~1bar of atmospheric pressure?

Sticky turbo vanes, possible blocked cat or similar. Are you getting EMLs too. I'd have thought it'd drop into limp mode with boost that high?

Depends what's in the mapping.

Yes it will be so its running 2bar boost+

Vacuum box? Have you had the turbo replaced if so could be the actuator isn't setup correctly.

Hi

Thanks for replies. Took some logs and request vs actual is off.

For example at 2500rpm requested is 2500mbar and actual is around 2700mbar occasionally it was 2990 but could get it to get that high again.

I've only owned the car 3 weeks and its seemed to run fine and idle fine, if i hadnt taken logs then i would have not known. So as far as the turbo goes i dont know if its been replaced or messed about with, i did do the VNT mr muscle clean but looks like it didnt do much and i dont have sticking vanes.

I reflashed the stock map thats lower requested but still the actual is about 200ish mbar higher than requested!

How can i check the acuator i guess the rod should be a specific lenght? i wonder if the chap beforehand has messed with it or its not be set correctly?

The box vacuum box i haven't touched that, how should i approach fixing/fault finding?

One thing i did was read codes even though no MIL lights on it came up with camshaft g40 no signal, even though the car runs fine i dont think this will effect overboost?

Thanks

Anyone?

I'd say its the vacuum box on the top of the strut gone wonky mate. Replace with a new one from tps etc. should solve your problems.

It did for me when I had mega over boost :)

Okay thanks do you have the link and is it hard to replace?

Can i buy stuff from TPS over the phone/online?

Cheers

It's a black triangular box located on the top left strut top inside the engine bay.

There'll be a part number starting 6q0 on it. The last few digits are important, especially look if there's a printed letter at the end of the code. Think mine had a C stamped at the end.

Ring tps with the part number for a price, could well be ~£150 mind.

Or try eBay for a second hand one with warranty.

It's s 2 minute job to change mate, really easy!

Do you know any fabias nearby? Perhaps someone would let you use their vac box for 10 minutes to run logs and see if it helps the boost issue

Here's some pics I found.
