The handling from what I can tell feels very positive. With much better feel of what's going on being transmitted. The turn in and change in direction is vastly improved. But need track time to fully explore. As for the LSD Mark. Do it !

Ok can you tell what I did today ?

Track day at Brands Hatch that's what ! Finally I got to find out how my Octy handles, stops and goes after all the modifications that have been done. The weather was really kind today which resulted in a bone dry track by about 11am. Before this it was a little greasy and cold but the Octy performed outstandingly. Once the track was completely dry I started to push harder resulting in a massive grin from ear to ear. The pin point accuracy at turn in coupled with the wavetrac's ability to slingshot the Octy out of the bends really surprised me beyond my expectations. I did about five twenty minute sessions in all and emptied a full tank of V Power. And I can say the Octy just got better and better the more I got used to the new found abilities. I won't go into the I was quicker than this and that. But I was very pleased indeed with the outcome of today's sessions. For anyone that wants to build a superbly handling MK 1 octy VRS I believe you would be hard pushed to do the job any better than I have done.

Maybe a certain Brisky member that I took round on one session could post his comments to give a possibly unbiased comment.

Could I have gone faster ? Possibly could I have had more fun ? I doubt it.

Sounds like you had an awesome time!

Just got to say the attention to detail on this build is superb. Two thumbs up!!

Well, firstly Pete, thanks for the ride..perhaps joyride is a better term....(he really did drive it like he stole it, in a controlled way of course  )!

Being serious, the car is really a piece of work, balanced, predictable, and fast without lag, how the car should have been from factory imo.

I think you will struggle to find a better mk1 vrs out there imo, in terms of the whole package, and certainly in terms of handling, this car was seeing most things off. We literally left behind subarus (like they were a ford fiesta), and an evo 5, and the car had no trouble keeping up with an e92 m3. I know there are faster mk1 ovtavias (with bigger turbo setups), but am not sure any have the whole handling package, i have been in a fair few now, and driven some, even the last quaife car I drove didn't compete. This can use ALL of the power, Pete has in the car, and it does so..well!

Getting back to the track, I think I left behind my stomach coming up to druids at hailwoods hill a couple of times, and coming down from druids to graham hill bend, we literally did several 4 wheel power slides, without any snap coming back onto the straight. It was epic!

I kept a track of speeds and going through surtees (chicane in effect) we hit 80...to say i am impressed is an understatement to be honest.

My car was very similar to pete's, without the diff/atb, and i wish i could have fitted that too as it has really transformed the car, and taken it another step further from where mine was. Coupled with the tt/r32 front end which has allowed for fine tuning of the suspension geometry, setup by tony gilham racing, Pete really could push the limits of the car, safely imo.

Nice one Pete, a great car, and a top day!!!

Sounds like a brilliant day Pete, sorry I didn't get a chance to pop down

take a spare pair of pants mate. Pete can drive and he knows tho roads around brands VERY well!

Perfect setup

Can't beat it but more power from hybrid then bingo

I've always said 300/300 with the right handling mods is perfect for road and track :-)

I had more fun in my black one with same setup that I have in any bt car

It helps to have a good driver like you behind the wheel also lol car can officially go on the Brisky hall of fame love it

Ok so I've had this very slight knock from the front near side for ages that was really bugging me. I thought it would go away after the R32/TT stuff was fitted but no ! The only things that hadn't been replaced were the drop links. So a quick trip to my local friendly Skoda dealers Saunders Abbott saw me exchanging monies for new drop links. So car raised wheels off old drop links off and new ones fitted. This all took quite some time as my OCD made me clean and polish inside and outside of wheels before re-fitting. The near side lower drop link ball joint was all loose and wobbly when I inspected it upon removal. So a quick test run(turned into 45 min blast lol) and all is good. No more Knocking happy Dayz !

:) very cool

Now to the retrim

Sounds like you've got a cracking set up now Pete.

Bit of black on the mesh so it looks less heavilly modified and it'll be just about perfect. :)

Cool, is that near his old unit?.

When you had your Wavetrac fitted, did they just fit the unit, or did they overhaul the box/bearings at the same time?, might be looking to go this route myself soon and was interested in costs not including the actual diff. Have a spare 02J now, so can get it done without a panic on downtime.
