Octavia Model History?

Featured Replies

Scuse the ignorance, I'm new round here ;)

I've been looking through the old posts, parkers info, what car, and a number of other sources but I still don't have a definitive answer!!!

My question is about the 4X4 model of the Octavia and what I want to know is whether it ever was, or still is, available in a saloon/hatchback version and not just the estate version?

For some reason I seem to think that it was available in the saloon/hatchback version but now may only be in the estate version?

Could somebody please clarify and let me know if it was only available for a short period of time, what model year(s) was it available from-to?

Thanks

Steve (Skoda wannabe ;) )

Don't think its available in the hatch any more, but I may be wrong. Best to wait for a 4x4 expert to reply.

Welcome to the site anyway!

Certainly available with a hatch because I've seen one. I do seem to recall however, a post referring to this particular model being dropped in the UK. I know ' 'ees not from 'round 'ere ' but one of our European brothers owns the vehicle you are referring to. At the moment his finger is stuck in a dyke but I'm sure he'll be along shortly.

When he's finished...

It's a big dyke.....

LOL :D

Thanks for the info so far chaps :)

I don't mind getting one imported if needs be but UK one would probably be easier :)

Skoda's website lists the 4X4 as only available in estate form. However, there are 4X4s out there in hatchback form. A quick search on Autotrader will reveal some VERY reasonably priced 4X4 hatches. I'm *almost* tempted :D

Okay, the dyke's been plugged, and she's turned into a lady now. ;)

Ho-hum...

Yep, I've got the motor you are interested in. NL version of course, so of no use to you.

Look in the Gallery under 'Other Octavia models' - you will find 4x4 hatches there. One of them's mine, the other is Barry's, who posted here for a while under the name of Biodad20. AFAIK, the 4x4 was discontinued in the UK but it is still available second-hand. And in those circumstances a very reasonable price is the least I would expect!

UK 4x4's are Elegance spec. Hatch discontinued for 2003 allegedly, but around in the network if you search. If you read through the forums you will find that there isn't a 4x4 owner who has a bad word to say about their cars and its not because we don't have the vRS model :)

They have the same basic engine and 4x4 system as the Audi S3 / A3 quattro. I moved to one after various A4 quattros and 4x4 Subarus. With a very safe 220/230bhp for

Thanks again for the info. I too had one of them Scooby things :)

Remap would be on the cards sometime (probably sooner than later) and would prefer 4X4 to keep the traction ;)

Some more delving to be done first, and get some test drives in. Will try a standard 1.8T as well as a 4X4 and a vRS to see which one I like the feel of better. Seen the ones on Autotrader and look OK value for money. Haven't a problem with second hand ;)

Ought to get a job sorted first but hey, cars are more fun ;)

In the UK, the 4x4 was originally available only as an estate, then they did a hatch as well for a year or so, then they dropped the hatch again as they were not selling as many. Shame.

Welcome on board, when you drive a 4x4 just keep telling yourself "I'm test driving everything but the power" - it's difficult (as nice as it is) to choose 150bhp over 180bhp, just remember identical once remapped.

Don't need to convince me guys :)

I like the Q-car factor with the 4X4. Looks a little more discreet than the vRS. What with my greying hair should suit me down to the ground looks wise ;)

Could buy one now, but need to get a job sorted first :( I'm all excited and haven't even got one yet ;)

Briskoda has been known to give some good job advice too... :D

And what did he see? 1.2 HTP? 1.2 12V? (Mmmm, that has potential...) 1.4 MPI? :D
