In mind of the Teves mk60 fault!

Featured Replies

I see someone has mentioned this fault recently, and based on what I have been told it is a recurring problem.

I realise now that it is possible to purchase a repair kit as aposed to changing the whole component.

However, is it not possible to change the whole unit to the one that I assume has been revised (and currently used in new Octavias, et al)?!

I'd also be interested to know which is the best route to go down, cos without a doubt it's bound to show up at some point on mine

Have you got the MK60 module on yours John? Will show up in a VCDS autoscan file, if you have some available. Listed under component in Module 03 'ABS Brakes'.

It was my understanding that your model shouldn't be affected.

As for fitting a later, revised unit that logically makes sense to me. However, I can see possible issues with controllers and other modules/sensors possibly, especially given what the role of the MK60 unit is.

@ JohnSTV6 I have had the abs issue on my sport (2006). It is my understanding that its a design fault on the mk60 unit. The mk70 unit has a slightly different design. As wardy has stated its not worth the trouble of doing it. There is a company called ecu testing that actually modify the unit.

Simon.

Must depend if the Sport has been specified with ESP then.

As the MK60 is for full ESP. I have the MK70 unit which just manages traction control (ASR).

Cheers for the replys, Wardy yeah I have ESP so must have the mk60 :-(

Fingers crossed it continues to hang on then, if not I'll have a look at ecu testing Simon thanks

ecutesting.com has a list of common failing part numbers for the Teves Mk60 ABS in the link below. A scan of my 2011MY Octavia II 4X4 shows that the ABS component is an ESP MK60EC1 H31 0108 with the part number 1K0 907 379 BE. I'm pleased to see that it doesn't appear on that list.

I have a 1K0907379BH on mine which also isn't on the list, so I hope that means mine will be OK.

Good link that Denis. Yes the 4x4 module isn't affected, presumably as it's of different design to interact with Haldex etc.

Good find, although close the pn for my 2008 Scout also does not appear on the list.Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 1K0-614-517-MK60-A.lbl Part No SW: 1K0 614 517 AD HW: 1K0 614 517 AD Component: ESP 4MOTION MK60-AT 0102 Revision: 00H14001 Coding: 0023170 Shop #: WSC 73430 790 00000 VCID: 69DDFA074062C3BNo fault code found.

I have 1K0614517AF which does appear on the list.

And now the TCS light is on - having it scanned next week to see if it is the dreaded problem.

Does anyone know approx cost for the repair kit?

From what date did Skoda start fitting the revised part that doesn't go faulty anymore?

Well that's comforting to know!

I thought the cost of the repair kit was only £100-200, plus the labour cost for removing the unit and refitting it. I also believe that it is a garage job as they have to use VCDS or equivalent to ensure that the brake system is properly bled after refitting.

I'm not so sure, I suffered this failure on my August 2008 Scout...

Not had it yet on my May 2008 Scout but as said above, although different, my part number is worryingly close to those on the list.

All the part numbers will be almost the same, however as long as it IS different then it is a different part.
