Blackline insurance

Featured Replies

I noticed today that the vrs blackline is now listed as a seperate car on insurance quote websites. I also noticed that the premium appears to be about 80 quid more than the standard vrs.

I would imaging it's because of all the Extra's

I don't see the logic to that though, you could have a standard vRS, with the leather, sat Nav and then add Xenons, a sunroof, MDI, front n back beepers and it wouldn't cost you any more

Didn't cost me any more to insure infact i made it clear to the insurance company that i paid less for the Blackline than my previous VRs. I have never been questioned by insurance companies what extras i have purchased on top of the standard model. Most will only give you market value anyhow.

yep its strange. I put a quote through for a VRS CR diesel and its 444 quid. Tick the blackline VRS Diesel and its closer to 550 quid.

Just swapped my year old VRS for my Blackline with Esure for no extra fee, apart from a small admin charge which I've paid on changing in the past..Seven months to renewal.

I'll have to see what the difference is when I finally get the delivery date through. I think the tip with insurance, as always, is to shop around to find the best deal (not always the cheapest mind you). Quote prices can vary a lot between different insurers.

I got £280 for mine for the year. That's with protected full no claims. I am mid life crisis age and live up north where we have more sheep than car thieves. I went through green insurance.

I'm 5 months until renewal and paid £18.07 to replace my 06 Fabia VRS for the Blackline. Didn't think that was too bad.

Wish my insurance was that cheap!

So an insurance company is trying to charge more for a special edition...... I've never heard them trying that one before (not)

Insurance is hit and miss anyway.

Was there not a topic in auto express about a month or two back about insurance. Some companys are now saying factory extras awill be seen as a modification and you you must declare what extras you have. not sure if it's started yet or the people who regulate the insurance company's have put a stop to this.

Has always been the case as far as I am aware.

My insurers weren't bothered about factory fit extras when I insured the current BMW - good job really as the original owner got a bit excited when they were ticking the options list.

When I was with more than they pretty much said I could do what I want as long as I didn't affect performance or handling.

My insurance was just an admin fee of £12 to change to the Blackline. £220 a year lol

I am 43 mind you and have 14 years no claims ha ha

That's a great premium. Mines close to £500, which im ok with. Im 35, with 10 years protected no claims living in wirral. They swapped my insurance from my previous vectra to blackline with no additional cost.

I imagine the quote would go up once you told them about those differences to the manufacturers original specification...

Getting mine next week my existing company wanted about£400 when on compare the market £285 average with fully comp protected legal etc. phoned two other companys not on websites £274 so as you have allredy said shop around some companys are just having a laugh.

Logic does not come into insurance.

I had a new 2011 TFSI Octavia VRS that after a year I swapped for a new 2012 CR Octy VRS.

I phoned to re-new on the CR, which is slower etc etc and got charged more. They could not give a satisfactory explanation.

When I changed from TFSi to CR they said it was because the new car was 'worth more' (although admittedly it was three years newer) and that the lower insurance grouping was more than offset by the cost difference.

More Than therefore went from about £450 the around £850

Mine is £1450

Wow!

Previous car was a ford cmax 1.8 petrol, mine went up by about £45 plus higher excess. Paying about 380 now. 34 and 9 yrs protected no claims.

Ouch. Mine has gone up from £600 for a 1.6 diesel ford focus cmax by £178 for the remainder of the policy (until mid july) and i'm only 20 with 3 years no claims. That includes a hire car (not a courtesy car) and full business insurance.
