  • Changing the "cold warning" option has made no difference at all in the past. Those ones you've linked to look the same as the many, many sets already tried by many, many people - they'll give you a b

  • Confirmed as working on my Blackline with the VCDS mod done. Looks loads better. Anyone got any experience of these GOLF MK6 R20 LED Taillights - Plug&Play Adapters On car systems.eu?

  • This is from a TT, so the Byte and Bit may be different, but the wording will be the same (Bit 6): As you can see it is not active (it was before I changed it) but it still gave a DIS (maxidot) err

Today I tried the 11.11.4 VCDS coding Byte 17 Bit 7 and the DIS bulb error was resolved. My model is MY11 SuperB Combi (2011 november) with halogen headlights (BCM 1K0 937 087 R)

I use this VCDS coding: check Byte 17 Bit 7 and un-check Byte 23 Bit 6

Byte 18 hex code is: 53 (with this code working my LED DRLs without load resistors error free)

My led number plate bulb is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/230817037462?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Got the dash warning, then coded the bcm and all ok

Byte 17 Bit 7 + blesk led= working! On F module!

Cheers mate!

Me too and the leds i've fitted are just a 6smd led ones

No errors

Don’t know why I didn’t look there :giggle:

FWIW a (manual) MY11 Octavia vRS I scanned uses 1K0 937 087 J, so it is indeed different to the AD controller that xpower has fitted.

Gizmo do you keep logs etc - i.e. can you tell me without having the car back whether I can have LEDs without getting the soldering iron out? My failed bulb has returned and if LEDs are possible (and easy) ill put some in whereas if not ill just buy a direct replacement bulb......

I certainly do

Your LE is fitted with a 1K0 937 087 (no extra letters after the part No.) controller, it is however the later type (BCM) so I would say the coding would do nothing on your car, so it’s either std festoons or the bulb / resistor mod required.

Cheers - suspected as much.

Must admit to a moment of panic when I pulled off the drive and saw the warning light, as I'd forgotten about the number plate bulb failure with it not having come up for a while!

It seems that all 5K0 BCM´s this will work.

It´s been confirmed even in the USA/Canada

OK, so the leds in the original link will work on on a pre FL Octy ?

Ticked Bit 7 in VCDS and still bulb out warning symbol and message in Maxidot

Over to plan B

Interesting Chris as you have the ‘same’ AD controller that xpower has, how old is your car?

Ah, no surprises then really, it’s only MY12 cars so far I have seen that doesn’t show the bulb out error after the coding has been done, it’s obvious now it’s not just the use of the AD controller though.

Hi All

I bought the number plate kit from the ebay link on first page and as expected the error came on the dash, so then I purchased some load resistors which clip either side of the cables going into the lights and this worked

It was tricky to fit as the rear panel cover needed to come off. The whole job took about 20 mins but the lights look great

Hope this helps anyone

PS. the resistors cost £5

Sounds good. Any link to the resistors?

How did you heatproof the area surrounding the resistors?

Thanks

didn't need to heat proof

Instead of splicing them into the wires, could you connect them directly to the terminals where the bulb slots into?

didn't need to heat proof

just reading the info from your seller link and it states that they should not be near paint or plastic and just thought that was exactly what was above the number plate bulb inside the tailgate!

I removed the panel cover - scotch locked them, then cable tied them to the main wire loom running from the wiper motor and all seems fine

been on for a week - i will remove cover today or tomorrow and let you know if any signs of heating

Have you managed to check for any heat related issues??
