Just took my Fabia vRS around the Ring for 7 laps. Better than I expected. Gearing took a lot of getting used to & brakes poor after 2 laps but handled OK with lots of understeer & sliding back end at limit but controllable. Steering better on track than road, not as light.

Amazed to get 22mpg as my Boxster only does 10 mpg here.

Driving a slow car fast is actually a lot of fun as so many corners such as Flugplatz & Angstkurve are possible flat out which is not possible in the Porsche.

Looking forward to a few mor laps today before the rain comes.

Thats fantastic to hear. I fancy doing the same thing. Have you any vid clips or pics !?!?

Andy

Welcome to the forum by the way ;)

Nice there innit :D

What sort of time does it do? My current Octy does about 8:50 - 8:55 BTG, not nearly as quick as my old Octy RS :(

I don' date='t have any of the Skoda yet but there are a load of photos/videos at Ben Lovejoys site. You might see some of me in a red Boxster.

No Idea yet. Slower than the Porsche but quicker than several bikers on R1s & GSXR1000s! Amazing how fast you can go if you don't lift off even with limited power. Will definitely need to do something about the brakes though. They were becoming alarming by the last lap.

Will be interesting to see if Hatzenbach is possible flat. I am getting away with just a lift at the moment.

Angstkurve is right on the limit at about 170kph flat out.

Fuchsrohre flat with tyres warm around 200 kph

Sorry Carsten ;) I'll be there. Went last weekend and today. I'm going tomorrow and Sun. Think I will check out the Fri. F1 training next week (only ticket I can afford). If anyone will be at the Ring, let me know.

Nice Steve, I will also be there on Wed. and Thurs. I'll look for you. I will be in a red fabia or a black smart roadster coupe, both German plated.

My real fears are at Schwedenkreutz where I spun out at 110mph & managed to avoid Armco on both sides more by luck than judgement. That corner is a killer & a real test.

The Schwedenkreuz ?? Oh my dear  That

I was at the Ring on 12th June, Sunday.

Sadly it showed it's true nature when a BMW M3 rolled at high speed at Schwedenkreutz & the driver, a 51 year old German didn't survive.

Great track as it is we should never forget that it has claimed over 200 lives over the years & is still doing it.

Steve

Steve, on my first visit to the ring a motorcycle rider was killed and comes as quiet a shock at the time. Since then I have seen many serious accidents mostly caused by driver/rider error.

I was at the Ring on 12th June, Sunday.

Steve, was it you who took me round for a lap?

It could have been. I have taken quite a few Skoda drivers around recently but unfortunately I am crap at remembering names. Were you with Dave & Gary?

I took a couple of guys round last night who were on their way to Le Mans in a gray Fabia vRS

Steve

Were you with Dave & Gary?

Steve

yes that was me! Thanks for the trip round, shame that motor bikes slowed us down!

Did you go round in the Fabia ?

It is amazing how people on 180bhp superbikes get upset at being overtaken by a Skoda diesel!

Last night was much better. An almost empty track so Furby was squealed to within an inch of his life.

What sort of BTG does it do? Just for comparisson with my diesel Octy, not a pi ssing contest, honest, just curious.

Mines about 8'50" - 8'55" . My old black one (petrol) did 8'30" - 8'32" so I'm interested to see how a Fabia compares

An almost empty track

It was like that Monday night, Steve managed to kill a set of pads this weekend in his 306 GTI-6!

Always the same thing with the bikes over there ... I guess Steve hates them .. :D

I went last night & it was a bit busier but OK after the tourists had done their 1 lap. Pads are a bugger. I killed a set of race pads in 35 laps at Easter in the Porsche. Furby brakes are going from bad to frightening. Pedal feel is terrible now. I am having to brake early & then get back on the power before the corners as I have no confidence in them at all.
