Upgrade speakers in Octavia Tour 2007

Featured Replies

A few months ago I bought a second-hand Skoda Octavia Tour 1.9TDi (2007), I absolutely love it but the audio sound quality is terrible! It's got a good head unit (Panasonic cq-c1405n) so I think all I need to do is upgrade the door speakers. I have a few questions about this, I was hoping someone might be able to help!

1. How do I know which speakers will fit in the front door space? There's nothing in the car manual. Also, how do I know the screw holes of the speaker and baffle will align?

2. Currently there is a tweeter at the top of each front door and a larger speaker at the bottom. I might just go for coaxial units and disconnect the tweeters, but if I was to replace the tweeters as well, where would the crossovers go?

3. Is such a thing relatively simple to do or should I order the speakers and leave installation to a professional?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The OEM Symphony head unit is rubbish, but the OEM speakers aren't really that bad so maybe you should be looking at the EQ settings in your Panasonic HU. Another possibilty is whoever fitted the HU wired up the speakers out of phase which would kill the low frequencies. A decent set of components Pioneer, Alpine, etc, for Octavia which should just fit straight without adapters. I'm Pretty sure the lower speakers are 6.5".

Tour ? Is that a estate mate ?

Fronts should be the 165/170 comps "6.5"

Just keep a eye on their mounting depth :)

If you do go deeper its only a lil lug that needs a harsh talking to ;) nothing major really

As above start with a unit change ( unless you wana build from the oe head unit look )

Do you have a budget in mind ?

Im not sure on rears on estates but the hatch 130s "5.25s"

My bad mate i missed that you had a diff head unit

1 eye on brisk, other on the munchkins :D

I changed all the speakers with Magnat Dark power and the HU with a Pioneer unit.Sound is much better ,is very good,is warm, bass is strong, everything is good.......but the doors are rubbish, everything inside rattles, all the plastics are rubbish.I have to invest some noney in sound insulation.

Ah :D i read more

You cant get the entry level comps mate that the tweeter plugs into the speaker terminals and theres a inline hpf so no bigger crossovers,

That said abit of fiddling and you'll be surprised at the space behind the door cards bud ;)

Alpines e type range are not badly priced bud ( they have inline filters )
