vRS Red Rag to a Bull?

Featured Replies

Are there any particular makes of cars that seem to want to challenge you?

On my regular commute there are three different MK4 Golfs that seem to think being a few inches from the rear bumper will either get you to move over or drag them along with you. Unsurprisingly none of them are GTIs/R32s but lesser models with dark tinted windows and overly large wheels.

Ho-hum.

They are just wanna-be vRS owners

I always seem to get Seat Leon or Ibiza drivers trying to hitch a lift, funnily enough they are never Cupra-R's either

I've had lots of fun with Mercs and Audis struggling to show they want to go fast by stupidly keeping the minimum distance from me in a single lane road when the 3-4 cars in front of me were taking their time, only to be left like standing when we reached a two-lane road and I could safely overtake... Priceless...

But I doubt it's the vRS badge that provokes such attitudes, I'd bet it's the other badge at the centre of the tail... :giggle:

Lots of everything, but

Funniest of all the cars i have ever had tailgating me is twice this past fortnight, these were Skoda Fabia Monte Carlos,

right up my chuff and not prepared to take the hint as i pull away forward a little or even further.

Once i was back up behind the traffic driving at a safe distance and just chilling, there they were sitting reading the dealers ID on my number plate.

Also Mk1 vRS's a few times i have had them up close and wanting to play, & not decided to overtake when given the opportunity to go on if they wanted to get up the road.

Yep had Audi 2.0l diesels trying it on and also last week a Bluemotion passat

Other small car, like Suzuki Swifts and Hyundai Getzes, ffs. The Skoda and VRS badges are almost unknown in this country, though, so I'm personally educating a few of them on what they shouldn't be messing with. :giggle:

Gives you the element of surprise. Bet you can even surprise some the the bigger Holdens etc.

Got the majority of 6 cylinder naturally aspirated cars covered, Holdens and Ford Falcons included.

My Mk1 used to attract Mini's. You can blame Top Gear and 5th Gear for that. Presumably they don't like being beaten. The Mk2 hasn't attracted that much but probably helps it's an estate. Did have some chav in a Corsa VXR behind me at a roundabout bouncing off the limiter with me laughing to myself about how his piston 4 is made out of chocolate. Nothing came of it though

I get flashed by a few R32's and your usual Focus ST's or Honda Type R's, but being bright green and having a regie plate that says Kill You.... It's hard not to attract attention! :D

Funnily enough, i had a VRS II on loan and then the following week had a 1.2tsi Fabia. Everyone wanted to play with the VRS but no one looked twice at the far humbler looking 1.2! (How I prefer it to be honest!) The common car that wanted to have a go at the VRS was the Seat Ibiza - three in total - and I cant say Ive ever noticed that many of them on the road around my way before!!

V8?

The biggest issue i have is people are pushy cos your in a skoda or try and race you as they think its a vrs (i have a monte).

Most cars the montes able to stay with on twisty back roads :) so alls gd in my eyes

And those who mention German saloons (Audis Mercedes BMW and off late VW passats)

I think you will find thier is a contact you have to sign when your handed the keys to one (either when purchasing or use as a company car) which stipulates.

1.hog the fast lane at all times.

2. Approach all cars at warp speed regardless of traffic conditions regardless if the car in front can move out of your way or not.

3. If the car infront wont move out your despite over taking and traveling at 75-80mph show your displeasure by tailgating and/or flashing headlights

4.never use indicators or mirrors

5. You treat the road like a god. The road markings/signs and highway code a mere *******s.

I believe this is shared by white vans too:)

V8?

Yeah. Pulled away from me but I had him till 60 then the big bruiser pulled out in front.

I had a VRS on loan while the Montes wheels were refurbed

In the twisty stuff it easily ruined my bro 330D bmw i guess size weight etc played a part and up to 60-70 the VRS pushes the bmw most of the way.

I'm generally left in peace.

Apart from last Sunday when some cok in his minicab (black Octavia vRS estate) decided to undertake me on the M8, he cut out and nearly took the nose off the Fabia - he then swerved out a further two lanes, then back across, undertaking again, to take the next exit.

Would hate to think it was anyone on here...

He wasn't a young chap either!

I had a subaru trying to change my radio on sunday 3 young lads in it so i turned my brake lights on but not braked as i slipped her into S the subaru nose dived put my foot down gone!!!!! At the next lights he gave me some funny looks he did not tailgate me again

Rarely get any people trying it on when driving the vRS. When I had the focus-ST tho I might as well have been driving round with a neon sign saying "calling all saxo-chavs, please race me" lol!

I love leaving people at the lights the look on Audi drivers its especially funny. If you get it right there isn't a huge amount of regular cars that can easily out pace a mapped vrs to 60.

Bulls don't respond specifically to red, just waving of the flag.

So... stop waving your flags ;)

Reckon most people on here enjoy waving it ;-)

Yeah. Pulled away from me but I had him till 60 then the big bruiser pulled out in front.

Next time, ambush him on a winding road...

I have got to say my fave sight is reactions from people who pull along side my dads work van thinking they will beat it (sadly its a 3.0L diesel with 250bhp,) so they are left disappointed and behind him lol

Had a play with a R8 Maloo ute off the line. Had him to the next set of red lights...he then turned his doosh doosh music off and put his window up
