Coolant level dropped to min

Featured Replies

Maybe things have changed a bit then or the ones I have seen have had some really horrible stuff used... I'm not sure.

I don't know... there's just something that doesn't sit right me pouring something into the coolant to block a leak.

K Seal is a better product than radweld in my opinion. Saved me a fortune in replacing the oil cooler :-)

Hmm I may give K-Seal a go then.  It does only seem to be a pinhole leak - the coolant has barely gone down over the last few days of motorway commuting, so I think its only a problem when things get really hot and pressurized.

I'm driving down to the Alps on Saturday - obviously I want everything in top running order for the trip, but I haven't really got the time to source and fit a radiator before then.

I can flush the whole lot out when I fit a new rad at a later date.

Hi. I'm a new member and a proud owner of Octavia Vrs 08. I'm in similar trouble at the moment. Had the car for about 2 months now and done over 2k miles. Coolant levels been fine except twice when I've travelled on the motorway and coolant light started flashing each time and of course had to top up. I've been any garage yet as I want to do abit more research into myself first. Any help would be very welcome as to where I should look around the engine bay. Thank you

Don't put that crap in, repair not patch!

Check underneath first, ideally after a run which would have warmed up and pressurized the system.  You may be able to see drips of coolant clinging to some parts (or a crystalline deposit where they have dried off)

Park the (warm) car on a dry patch of ground and check for puddles after a while.

In my case, I found drips on the plastic undertray that sits under the radiator.

"Too Late!" came the cry..

I put Radweld in (couldn't find K-Seal)

I don't have time to replace the radiator before I need to go on holiday, especially as I intend to hound the slippery car dealers to fix under warranty.

The bottle says "suitable for all cars and coolants", and besides, I'll flush the lot out when I DO replace the radiator.
