How to change oil

Featured Replies

high 20's to low 30's i would think eh

My fave is..... Have i got a spare 4-5 hours? F**k it lets give it a go.... normally goes well... and if it dosent and i get stressed then 5 min break with a cuppa and a calm down then get back to it, get it done in no time.

It's amazing that. "Tea's law" works every time. And I don't even drink the stuff.

PD lump filters are easy. just use a socket on it.... they have put the hex top on it to put a socet on it. cant remember what size though.

Wish the earlier diesel were like that! They are just a plastic dome that are shaped like a normal tin filter.

Is there a better/recommended tool for removing them?

Cheers.

I usually end up making a strop with some webbing, a lump of wood and a screw with big washers, but usually lose it before the following year and find it 10 minutes after the job is finished.

+1

After "oiling" my right arm during my first oil change years ago, (having to resort to a screwdriver injection in the filter to undo),

I invested in one of those, makes life so much easier. It also fits the oil filter for a 2000' Felicia 1.6 petrol.

I suppose if you are doing the Octy and you want to reduce Oil spillage you could put a hole in the bottom of the old filter, let it drain then remove it, but its extra effort..

i like my Vr6 one that is a filter replacement (not a metal canister one) the black cap that you use the socket to take it off has a Allen bolt like drainage plug on it so you drain the filter first.
