Ok... it seems ive broken it ...... Quick rack time ?

Recommended Posts

asked him that already! good thinking though!

I doubt wheels alone have done it, like you have run vag cars for years, always modded, just wonder if its a combination of heavy non reps, lack of fluid over time, and perhaps a knock.

thats assuming the play isn't coming from elsewhere on the car (ie subframe, balljoints etc)

Yeah guys the wheels are on, with what spent on them i have done them up 3rd nut tight lol

I tried a couple more vids of a wheel wiggle with no engine on

Its got something there but not as much as a knock that got my attention

I'll try get them on here

problem is lloyd, without seeing the car, its near damn impossible to tell from a vid clip, as we can't look/check anything

way forward...

get 2nd opinion...

then get your hands on a rack or 2...

oily the better imo :giggle:

I like it .... needs new rack, ends up with new front end setup !!!

This place is dangerous lol

i know, a year ago i logged on to try and figure out a fault code, now i have a car that cant drive through a town near me cos of an aggressive speed bump

lol, so true!

Im also constantly covered in an oil/paint mix. at first i didnt give a feck, now every single bluddy rattle makes me paranoid. Then i read a thread about how many times you can use a nut and panic cos ive used it 3 times, not 2.

Its a sad little world ive ended up in! 505.00 or 505.01 decision was one - i lost sleep over that :giggle:

just go to a good specialist, look one up, be prepared to drive a bit to them, it's worth it!

we already have one opinion, which may well be correct, just to confirm get a 2nd 'vag specialist' opinion,

don't evem bother with the main dealer, as it will be doom and gloom, plus a hefty quote to change everything

Pits are a thing of the past, with column lifters. Besides which, other than existing pits, there are regulations against building pits. IIRC, it's down to carbon monoxide welling up in them. That's one thing you DON'T want to be down there with...

yea but unfortunatly one is needed really as you taek all the preasure off things when you raise it so finding the sauce is very hard.

shame the garage at work is in use 24/7 lol, we have 2 pits in there for the trucks lol.

there is always trucks on them tho

Then you simply get platforms for your synchronised column lifts. The lifters (and controller) themselves are the expensive bit. A ramp mechanism is peanuts in comparison.
