How long for delivery after car is built?

Featured Replies

I have been told that my Furby has been built and is in a compound somewhere waiting to be shipped over to the UK.

My dealer has told me that it takes approx. 3 weeks from this time before it get's to the dealer to be PDI'd and ready to go.

Is this right? Does anyone know the whole process as I know it takes approx. 8 weeks from start of order?

dunno about how long it'll take to get to the UK, but my dealer told me when mine arrived on our shores, then it was about 1 week to delivery.....

I was told it took 3 weeks after the build week, and that's exactly how it turned out.

I hate waiting for a new car!!!! I'm getting impatient!!

LOL when I ordered the Fabia vRS last year it was a 12 week waiting list

Yes you read it right 12 weeks !!

I ordered mine Tuesday after bank holiday was told it was in Czech Rep it turned up Friday :D

Thanks to my insurance company being useless picking it up this friday.

Just in time for a week long family holiday to cornwall and back (should run it in nicely)

But I know what you mean I just want it NOW

12 weeks for me it was too ;)

Mine was 4 days :P

It was 8 weeks for my other fabia and it will be around 10 weeks for the Octavia to be delivered (ordered 6 weeks ago, build is this week, 3 weeks ish for delivery)

Im on my 9th week of waiting. Been told it arrives in the UK on Wednesday and then 3days for PDI.

Its being shipped to Grimsby, is that the usual place?

Yes, all VWs Audis, Seats and Skodas are shipped to Immingham and officially "imported" when they get to a storage compound (presumably an old airfield) somewhere near there.

Took my dealer two weeks to get a transporter organised to get mine here. Would have been quicker to collect it myself!.

Just been told by my dealer my car is in the UK in Grimsby and waiting to be transported but no date on the system for transportation yet.

He told me it should be ready mid next week! Can't wait!

Mine was 4 days :P

That's cause you Fabia was 2nd hand

Basically when I ordered mine (end Dec '04) I was told if I wanted the spec there as a 3 month wait, I could have driven away a different one (ex-demo) for a lot less and so on.

Wouldn't have been a bad choice but at the same time I'm glad we didn't go for that in the end as this way at least we got the car we wanted.

Our cars must have been on the same ship! Did you get told the registration of the car?

Just been told that my car is at the dealer!! That was quick!!

I wouldn't mind but I just filled the courtesy car they have loaned me!!

I have the reg number as I had a choice from about 15.

Just asked the Ins. company to send them a cover note but I might have to wait 'til Monday to collect it as for some reason they can't tax it tommorrow????

umm i know it's off topic but why sell an E46 M3 for a Fabia vRS?

He already said it's due to running costs on the M3 on another thread ;)

Going through the dreaded "D" word at the mo!!

Picked up my vRS on Saturday - on my birthday!!

Very happy with it!! Funny, I don't miss the M3 at all! Maybe I will think differently later :(

Initial impressions are -

Positives -

Very good power - on boost but still driving gently

Looks fantastic IMO

Seats

Quality - generally

Negatives -

Handbrake is loose - you can move it back and forth approx 1" - Is that normal?

MPG is not as good as I thought - 43-44mpg (according to computer) driving relatively gently - hopefully better with miles

Turbo lag - although I expected it!

Tyre noise - mine come with Bridgstone Turenza not Conti's?

  • 1 month later...

I ordered mine on 15th May and was told mid September for delivery !!!

I was told my Octavia left the factory on Jun 3rd, it is now 1st July and the dealer is telling me it still has not arrived in the country.

Boo hoo.

Mine dont come till mid august and i have elected to get it registered on Sep 1st.

I wonder if i can borrow some trade plates to run it in for 3 weeks.

Cheers

Lee

Ordered my Octavia the end of May. It's ready the middle of August too, but I decided to wait until Sept 1st.

Took F'ing 2 weeks to get mine up from Gillingham to Preston and registered etc.... When I decided to buy a VRS I was told for the spec I wanted that it would require a factory order and was quoted a 15 week wait, hence why I have a red VRS (Only one Skoda UK had in stock in the whole country with the majority of the extras I wanted) instead of a black  one.
