Five month tyre life!

Featured Replies

My 2002 Fabia 1.4 is currently in the garage having its service and MOT done. The mechanic has just called to say that he has put an advisory on the MOT as the front tyres are wearing down on the inside edge almost to the limit. He said the ball joint on the driver’s side is damaged and the alignment is out, which has caused it.

The thing is, the front tyres were new on only five months ago, so have probably done a couple of thousand miles. Does this sound right because it seems like an extremely short period of time to me. Is it is a case of the car has probably hit a pothole in that time or something, damaged the tracking and ball joint and that has ruined the tyres?

Your tyres have been worn by the bad alignment, end of.

Get your suspension fixed and the next set will last a lot longer!

as above, poor alignment can eat tyres on a particular side

sort that out and your tyres should last a lot longer

Isit lowered? Mine were chewing through themselves in weeks between harsh driving and not aligned properly. Atleast now they wear evenly, although I still go through them like mad lol
