Halfords bulbs are ****

Featured Replies

Driving along day..beep.. another bulb gone. I've went through 4 halfords bulbs in a year, bit of a rip off considering their about a tenner a pop ! Osram Nightbreakers have been orderdd !

Nickname of Halfrauds tells its own story

Are you touching the glass? Never had an issue with their bulbs myself

Me neither

I have their brightest H1's..They are superb and faultless

nightbreaker plus for me too from euro car parts £12.59 with 30% discount. Just waiting for them to arrive

Ditto, no problems here in the past either.

Halfords don't make the bulbs, they are made by a mainstream manufacturer and packaged in Halfords retail packs. Wouldn't surprise me of they were OSRAM or simillar.

A lot of people use that expression..'Halfrauds'

I really dont understand that.

I’ve never had any cause to criticise their service in all the years they have been in business...and its many

What problem have you had with them?

There prices, the stock, there attitude whenever ive been in, the stupid modded parts they sell that keepchavs happy, chrome crap, rubbish led kits.

They are good for some stuff, when desperate, but they are expensive!

I often use their 3 for two offers and also BOGOF on other parts

As said I have no problem with them

What constitutes a 'stupid modded parts' ?

'Chrome crap'?

Youre not forced to buy them :giggle:

Halfords bulbs seem to be worse and more expensive than going to the local main dealer for 'em.

Random question, is loanhead the bit with ikea and that? Seem to end up out that way quite often for shopping etc and never seen another vrs lurking :o.

basically as it was said halford's have another manufacturer make their bulbs, then halfords sell them a tenner a pop (in my case literally) when I can buy a h7 bulb on ebay for 1.99 that isn't any worse. What constitutes the high price for what is a common item ? halfrauds.

Get a trade card and you'll see why, I got a COMPLETE set of bulbs for mot, indicators sides etc cost £4 with the trade card lol

I Tried one brand of high output lamps. One trip up north and they went. I now buy Lucas from local petrol station. And they last long time. But, I always wash them in meths BEFORE fitting.

Meths? I use that stuff at work, never knew it was good for washing bulbs haha :)

I worked for Halfords up till last year. Bosch make their bulbs and shell supplies their oil. But some crap hut in like Russia make their wipers.

Gets all of the grease off of halogen lamps. Larn something new each day, perhaps .

Noticed the halfords trade card got mentiond, i've also got one and it makes a big difference in prices. might be off topic but i have their full range of halfords professional advanced tools and tool box, about £1000 worth and never had any problems with quality at all.

As for staff, also brilliant... I even got extra money off items that i had bought before i had the trade card to make up the difference.

You joking?

The whole forums for chit chatting?

Thats the reason we all come on here, find out whos local, points of view and in this case its a "chit chat" about halfords.

No chit chatting....No forum!

Quite correct Trev

Its not as if its off Topic is it

The OP has suggested that Halfords bulbs are *********

Clearly that argument is flawed as they are made by Bosch...known to be a quality bulb

Its therefore not Halfords' own product

Other posts indicate that experiences of Halfords Stores is mixed between good and bad.

Sorry for the chit chat GM...It IS relevant

I was going to place a view on this Topic, but it might be 'chit chatting' I wont bother ha, oh dear I've seen it all now

Anyhow, ive not had a problem, all our vans arereplaced with them to, are you sure there is not a problem else where causing them to go pop

HAHA exactly my point, wont be putting my point of view over now as it might be seen as chit chat even if i am trying to help people in future!
