Featured Replies

My local tyre place was too busy so on the way to a job I made a quick stop( in my work combo) into kwik fit as my front left tyre was near the marker.

They had a look told me 2 needed doing, I said no!? Only one needs doing then he said something about the tyre wall I said no I only wanted the font left tyre ok he said then went to his computer.

The only ones we have in stock are hancook sport tyres. oh really how much are they then??? £102.20+vat hahah your ****in kidding!!

I jumped in my van laughing went back to local place on my home £46 inc vat. Job done!

ROFL@KWIKFIT!!!!!!

I went in there with a knocking exhaust. Diagnogisis, replace the entire system! Didn't have any in stock, so told me to go to VW.

Took it in for its MOT a few weeks later and they failed it on the knocking. 1/2 hour with a welder later and the original exhaust hanger was fixed up instead!

Heard several stories like this about quick fit sadly.

Kwik-Fit fitted a complete exhaust to one of my previous cars.

On the following day, it failed MoT due to leaking joints and sheared bolts.

IMHO........You can't get sh***er than a Kwik-Fit fitter

So they wanted to fit a car tyre to a van. Thought there was rules on the kind of stuff.

^ +1 on that

Certain vans are fitted with "normal" tyres, typically things like the Vauxhall Combo or other small car-based vans. It is the load rating that matters.

On the pick up I run 'normal' avons front & commercially rated on the rear. However I rarely if ever carry any loads & more than one tyre outlet have confirmed no problem with that combo. ;)

That video is certainly an eye opener.

Two outlets local to me.

1 scratched my bumper getting the spare out - it was a Sunday and the tyre had a screw in it so I couldn't wait.

The second (also on Sunday) took the tyre off the wheel to look for the puncture that we thought he had, couldn't find anything wrong apart from a piece of paper label not removed by Vauxhall main dealer the week before (and we assume was breaking the seal), and then put it all back together. NO CHARGE.

I Think it depends which branch you go to.

I went to my local branch to get 2 new tyres fitted............ 2.5 hours later they finally handed my keys back to me.

KWIK????????????????

Would never use kwik fit or similar outfits!

When I had my 182 I took it to our local quick fit for a oil and filter change, was just easy to do we dropped it off there and done our shopping then picked it up, while paying I see the tech filling the the car with oil and was chuffed they used a good quality oil. Really impressed with the few ££ oil change. Got home and decided to clean the car so done that opened the engine bay and just wiped it to get fit off some water from washing, I thought ill just check the dip stick and see how clean the oil was it was ******* below minimum. off i went back they said they put the correct 5L in and started to say i had a sump leak and piston ring trouble, after alot of banter they filled it with the large 4L to the top

Every time I took the Polo to Kwik Fit they always disputed what tyres were going on, they said that the best bet were cheapo £50 no branders, I got my own way with getting Contis put on though. Now my mum's running it again she had a flat REAR, took it in, they said that the fronts were borderline illegal (I checked - they weren't), then when the same tyre went flat again a week later, they then told her that it needed a new pair on the front. I checked again, they were still ahead of the markers, but definitely not illegal.

They tried getting a few hundred out of us for track rod ends as well as they said they were seized. When it went in for service at local friendly mechanic (family friend), he looked at it, applied heat, cracked it off and two years down the line, we're on the same track rod ends. Cost? Free.

Running my own car now I'd never go back to Kwik Fit, when I had steering issues they wanted £60 just to plug into diagnostics! Local friendly mechanic again back at home in Rochdale, plugged it in and said "yeah this needs doing, it's one we'd suggest you take it to Skoda for and it'd probably cost this much" and sent me on my way, no charge. Skoda dealer were just as straight with me, so the dilemma now is when I get it serviced, do I take it to the dealer, or head back over to Whitworth Bar in Rochdale and get it done there for just as good service?

One of my mates is a mot/technician at kwik-fit, done his apprenticeship with merc, really good mechanica does most of my stuff if i dont have time.

He told me that they go away on a servicing course for a week, do it on one car, get talked threw the test and seemingly thats them ready to service any cars from a shanner of a micra to a top class merc.

He's told me not to talk to anybody except him as the rest are monkeys.

would neevr let them touch my cars, have had several arguments with them in the past trying to bump other unsuspecting people whilst ive been there and ive piped up!

Hate them, bad mechanics, bad tyre fitters, bad customer service, always try to rip you off.

my mum phoned me one to say she was standing in kwik fit cause she had a flat tyre, they said she needed a new one, i went round, tyre was basically brand new, with a small nail in it, told them to stop being planks and stick a plaster on!

ARSE HOLES!

Really annoys me!

Took the wife's MX5 into KF for a rattle on the exhaust......it was a loose heat shield, they repaired it with a couple of jubilee clips and refused to take a payment.....it passed two MOTs and didn't rattle again in the two years we kept it after this.

KF have done a couple of puncture repairs for me......they were honest and didn't try to sell me new tyres.....again free of charge.

Would I take a car there for servicing....no......,but for tyres and exhausts I've found them very good....just wish they kept Khumos in stock

Regards all

I've never taken my car to Kwik-Fit. When i used to live in the West Mids, there are a couple of garages called Chemix which i would always use and they never took the p. I also used to use e-Tyres as it was quite convenient having them come out to the house and change the tyres there.

The only other place i've gone to is a place called DTE Motoring Centre in Halesowen. Not 100% happy with them but still got to be better than Kwik-Fit!! :D

went into kwik fit

That was the first mistake. Not turning round and getting out quick was the second. That said ,some branches are better than others. Like one in Liverpool, that fitted the correct tyre for a FWD Transit to a LWB /HI top. Totally wrong profile . Like another in the Midlands that couldn't repair a puncture as they had no repair materials.

And again, I used another place to get new rear shoes - it came out with the bloke telling me that the front bushes were worn .The brakes were full of air . And another place ,insisted that torque on wheel nuts on VAG range was 120 LB/FT

Fast fit seems to be FAST F**K

Would never trust Kwik fit or Qwik Lube in Edinburgh

Got the MOT done on my van as i forgot about it booked it that night for the morning it was convenient and £30, got the usual tyres are on the limit (hold on i got two fitted last week its only done 500 miles on them), and he also had a right good nose around in the back of my van, no where on the test does it say nose about like a pikey thief.

My mum used her local one and again new tyres needed and front pads and discs... funny that i done them on the saturday for the MOT on Monday.

Qwik Lube in Abbeyhill, edinburgh are just as bad, fitted a set of springs round the wrong way and fitted my exhaust squint.

I know use Powdrake Service Centre Mikey is a Legend and a VAG nut.

kwak fat & mot- had one done there once. Advisory was nail in rear os tyre . No such animal -it was screw in spare . Which was strange,as the spare had only been out of the car to have one of the better tyres swapped on to it when I had new tyres and had never been out of car since . I watched the car on the brake test - I'd suggest he hammered the brakes the way the car dipped on the test.

ATS are just as bad. Knuckle draggers the lot of them

And National Tyres and Autocentre? or something like that.

Dad's old Freelander went in for a full set of boots, no problem there. Now on Freelanders the locking nut key is with the tool kit under the bonnet, so they had no problems taking it out of there so we assumed they put it back there too.

Next day the car was broken into, passenger window, brick through it. The area had a bit of a reputation for drunks sometimes doing that so we thought nothing of it, until next day he had a flat tyre to deal with. Limped it to where the tyres were fitted and they said "where's the locking key? We left it on the passenger seat for you" Bloody idiots, filled it with air, limped it 10 miles to the nearest Landy dealer (Bury), got an identical key whilst ordering a new set, filled with air and limped back over to NTAC. So a set of tyres ended up costing around £500 / £600, PLUS insurance excess for a new window, a new spare locking nut key and a whole new set of lock nuts and different key.

Okay we should've checked, but c'mon, it's not hard to put something back where you found it!

The only thing they are good for is aircon regassing..if you have a leak they wont fill up and charge you they simply wont do it. Had mine done in the summer.

And that's their fault.

Didn't you see on passenger seat?

Take responsibility for yourself.
