  • Cars ALWAYS suck the fuel from the bottom of the tank as that's where the pickup is Wouldn't be a lot of use if it was anywhere else now would it?

  • People say they dont give a monkeys but we all do , if the car only did 10mpg how many would they sell ??

  • 50 litres is just under 11 gallons, but whats a .3 of a gallon between friends. You did say over 50 litres, sorry. george That was brimming it here when showing 50 miles range, & only getting 4

I have a 20 mile trip to work each day (one way), but it's in constant traffic, usually taking a hour, I boot the car when I get the chance and usually average around 270 miles between fill ups (computer says there's 50miles let in the tank), using fuelly.com I'm averaging around 33mpg

If it really mattered you'd have all bought the 1.2 not the VRS...just saying!

I cycle to work any day it's dry and not so cold that my hands go numb. Fastest time for 10 miles into work so far is 32mins. Car on a good day and 3 miles less is 25-35 mins

I can certainly say I never considered the mpg when buying my vRS, I think it had more to do with that "feck me it's quick" feeling

For me it was both "feck me it is quick" and "feck me, THAT quick and THAT frugal!" :)

I guess no-one can call you feckless. :giggle:

But I agree with you.

Don't get me wrong I couldn't give a monkeys about mpg otherwise I wouldnt open the throttle up at every opportunity and I would have purchased a diesel. I was just curious what others get to a tank of fuel in their vrs' that was all.

For a car to only get 10mpg you would have to have a big wallet to afford the vehicle in the first place or have a serious fuelling issue.

My Skyline did around 7mpg when driving hard

Somebody wrote on briskie that his Yeti (was it Bossfox ?) averaged 10mpg on a track day lol.

Agreed,it always matters, one of the reasons for me changing to a Fabia vRS from an Octy vRS(petrol)was to get better mpg.

On the other hand,if you've got so much money that fuel costs are irrelevant you wouldn't be on a Skoda forum!!!

My vRS averaged 13mpg on track

300ish miles on a tank for me, mixture of town driving, dual carriageways and A road blasts with v-power. Lasts > 2 weeks so can budget enough to fill twice a month.

I totally agree!

When I asked the dealer he quoted some figures he had acheived when he was using one daily & also noted driving style.

Mine is agressive- I only got 210 miles from a tank in my 1 litre Picanto, so 250 or more will keep my happy, especially the way I drive. I am not looking forward to filling up more than twice a month though.

As a side note. Who has the best fuel? I've done some research & decided on Tesco Momentum 99, but is there any better? The only other one I considered was Shell V Power, but what does everyone use?

Tesco Momentum 99 is good

& Shell V Power will be 5-10 pence a litre or so more. I personally would still use the Momentum even if the price was the same for both.

If you are not going to always use 98 or 99 ron,

then Sainsbury's Super Unleaded 97 ron is sometimes around the price of others regular unleaded.

EDIT,

just had a nosey

& i see that up here today, 'V Power' is showing as only 2 pence a litre more than the Momentum.

I think its fair to say that in real world conditions the vRS isn't really that fuel efficient. If you baby the car along in 7th at 50 - 60 mph everywhere then its not bad but as soon as you tap into the performance its really no better than most turbo petrols with a similar output (older VAG 1.8T included). I think most people who own one of these use the performance more often than not.

Car also has a tiny tank which hurts its range. Ours rarely betters much more than 300 with mixed driving.

I have to run mine on 95 RON now and was expecting economy to suffer but its absolutely no different to when I was religiously stick 97-98 in it; also not noticed any real loss of performance or experienced poor running which for me has finished the super unleaded debate.

I'm going to have to take easier than I have been. With two tanks of fuel I got 500 miles which equates to 30mpg. Most of it is slow traffic in and out of Swansea. Coming out going up hill, by the time I get to the top of the incline I'm going 26mpg. Plus I always want to have a play with doesn't help either

we are getting about 36 average mpg on the fabia, I am not sure what that is to a full tank as I don't fill it, usually throw £25 in it as it only does short runs for the wife to work as we use the Yeti for most other journeys as fuel is free in that. On £25 the Fabia does about three weeks nipping here and there.

We had a V5 Bora before the fabia and it used £25 a week to do the same as the fabia is doing, that was a thirsty beast! Not particularly quick but has a nice sound to it.

Filling up at Maidstone Services, I can get to Saarbrucken (well, near there) on a tankful - and that running at the speed limits (or lack of) through France, Belgium and Germany - 390 miles from memory in 4.5 hours, give or take. MID reckons 38mpg give or take a decimal place which sounds right. Runs at 40mpg on the nose from home in Stoke on Trent for the whole trip (650 miles or thereabouts).

That'll do me.

That's pretty good well done

My memory is playing me up - 340 miles from the Eurotunnel to destination in Germany (yesterday). 41 litres used; 37.7mpg
